Being in the moment

That's excellent advice. I'm the same way, with my mouth going a million different directions at the same time. Like you said, I don't know how I could actually keep my mind on the task at hand. It seems like it would take a real concerted effort.

One of the things I used to regularly practice and need to get back into practicing is meditation. The point of meditation is to bring you into the moment. It teaches you how to do that.

Pema Chodron has a great 5-disc cd set called Learning Meditation or On Meditation. Anyway, I listen to it all the time.

When I practice meditation, especially the way Pema Chodron teaches it, those loose thoughts, the ones that just run and run, seem to be a little more controlled and I can be present (or in the moment).
