I had an awesome patron-tutoring session this week. The patron wanted to learn basic Internet use skills and we started with trying to set up an email account for her. That didn't work since she didn't have her cell phone with her (for the verification code). I have two new favorite British shows. The first is The Only Way is Essex (Hulu), which is a Jersey-shore-esque reality show but with British accents. I never watched a reality show like that before. I certainly don't watch Jersey Shore. Yet for some reason, the fact that it is British makes it much more entertaining, and somehow ok that they are ( Read more... ) -

I've just finished an amazing book, Among Others by Jo Walton. Not only is the story entriguing, but the protagonist LOVES to read science fiction. The book is written in the form of a journal, and she does what most young readers do when they keep a journal--she writes about what she's reading and her thoughts on those books. Photos of my garden
Over all, I've been really pleased with the results of my garden. As you may remember, I'm participating in a community, organic garden through the university. However, next year I will not make the mistake of planting gourds. They are seriously trying to take over the world!

One aspect of my job that I do enjoy, although I don't get to do it all that often, is to assign call numbers. Once in a while, I'll even get to assign that call number in OCLC, which means that libraries all across the world may utilize the call number I selected. I've mentioned in the past that one of the unique beliefs I hold, as a Mormon, is that we have both a Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. Sometimes, within the church, there is a sort of hush-hush attitude towards Heavenly Mother, like a "sacred silence."
