Blood brag

Feb 05, 2017 15:34

Just wanted to do a little bragging that between my Divacup, sea sponge tampons, Thinx panties, and Lunapads, I'm now a zero waste period girl. I still carry three no-applicator tampons in my purse for emergencies, but It's awesome to finally have all the angles figured out. Hopefully, I can get Victoria on the bandwagon a lot faster than I did, ( Read more... )

Gross question for you - how do the Thinx do with clots?

I will have to get back to you on that- I just ordered my Thinx, which was what inspired me to post. When I use Lunapads (cloth pads and liners), they contain the clot and absorb the liquid part, and then I use toilet paper to get rid of the rest when I go to the bathroom. I imagine this would be pretty similar to using Thinx. I plan to use them in addition to my Divacup to protect against occasional spills. I have a very marvelous, very expensive Tempurpedic mattress, and I was still using disposable pantyliners and tampons at night because I was worried my Divacup might leak.

As usual I feel slightly guilty for laughing at one of your tween angst stories, but I'm sure we can all relate. Pure cringe that no amount of time can alleviate.

I just received my second order of Thinx last week! I got one in Nov. and liked it enough to order two more because they had a sale. I also got one from a company called Dear Kate. The jury is still out on which is better, but due to Mirena my period is so light now they're all I used last month.

Never heard of Dear Kate! I bought my three pairs of Thinx for 10% off and then got another 10$ off using a referral code. It was still way more than I'd ever spent on underwear, but I'm psyched.

I have one pair of Thinx that work pretty well but I think maybe I need to have one pair for every day of my period...not sure. All I know is 1 pair is not enough since they have to be rinsed and then machine washed.

I thought that would be a problem for me, too, so instead of getting one pair to try, which was what I wanted to do, I picked the smallest "cycle series" of three, which came with a 10% discount.

So much of this resonates with me, even though I didn't really have a great excuse to be so weird about it. My mom was super open in a weird way about period stuff growing up (I knew what tampons were for, where they were kept, etc), but when I started it myself, it was super awkward. I too was the proud owner of a plastic grocery bag of used products and ruined underwear hidden in the back of my night table. Every couple of months I'd smuggle it out in my backpack and throw the bag away on my walk to school. Obviously it got easier over time, but I applaud you for making it as easy for V as possible when it's her turn.
