Not because I need that person to do the right thing. They may very well go and buy booze and drugs...
but becaue I NEED to be the person who does the right thing.
I donate to the local homeless shelter too. Small things, but something!

My husband had an interaction with a homeless man here in Colorado Springs two years ago that led to him driving the man to Walmart to buy Coleman fuel for him. A lot of homeless in our area gather at this one area by a creek and camp there, and the homeless man said Coleman fuel was more trade-worthy than even actual money in the winter. He said that with these tanks my husband bought him, he and his friends would all gather around them and be able to keep their hands and toes from frostbite.
It really changed our views on the homeless.
