It ain't over; the plan

Jan 30, 2012 12:31

So, 2011 was the year of the train wreck. I was still running but a lot of what I wanted to have done didn't pan out due to stupid overtraining injuries. Going into the winter I was determined to be smart and I found a marathon that sounded like fun and still...managed to end up injured. I made peace with the idea that I wasn't going to run that ( Read more... )

Thanks for the update, George! I know being injured is super frustrating for you, but I really admire your determination not to let it get the best of you. I'm excited to support you with WW and getting back into the groove of running! Good luck with everything. You will be great!

Thanks Jen. :-)
I could gush at length about the leader we stumbled on. It's true that the program works but the magic that can happen at meetings is all about the leader and the group.

Yep very true! I'm not super jazzed about my current meeting. :-/ My Leader is cool but the group...meh. Lol.

Thanks Wendy. :-)
I'll admit, I've been bad. Time management isn't something I'm very good with and when I get busy, instead of deciding "Maybe I shouldn't play Star Wars: The Old Republic" like a reasonable adult, I think "Don't have time to update journal!!!!" I'm a work in progress :-)

Sad to hear about radio silent, but I get it. Glad you are making your priorities clear and aren't giving up. Let me know if you need any help with the Galloway method stuff. I don't know which book you have, but I have some extra copies of this book which is the textbook for our program.

Sorry about that but beyond what I said about the drama... you know those people who get all nervous and shut down when they have an audience? I'm the opposite of those people. :-) I don't want ANY incentive or possibility of positive reinforcement if I do something silly and push myself.

I was rather hoping you'd say that. I mean much of running is the same language but if I do run across an alien concept, I might take you up on that. :-) I have; "Galloway's Book on Running" and "You Can Do It" both the Half and Marathon versions. I would definitely be very interested in giving that a read.

Yeah, I totally understand. It's too easy to enable bad behavior while trying to be supportive.

Those 2 books should have what you need already, but if there is something that you are looking for that is not there let me know.

Thanks for confirming that Kitzzy!
Happily I have enough time to re-read before I'm back on the road.

Exactly, I went and made it public. In a couple of months I'm going to have to call it a go or no-go and explain myself. :-) It's not just about forcing myself to lose the weight, it's to reduce the chance of re-injury. As my weight has crept up, I'm not only slower than I should be but I'm substantially more injury prone ( ... )
