WARNING: This post contains unmarked spoilers up until Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's episode 139, screenshots from the series itself, some Greek and Greek mythology, and mathematical concepts the author does not fully understand herself.
It sounded like a system check to me which I suppose is used in the same situation. I can see it making sense, though. Perhaps he secretly wants to be a pilot? ^^
That does make sense! To be honest, ZONE confuses me a lot. He talks about all possibilities being equal, but that would (to me, at least) imply that he's operating in more than one universe, since well, some things just aren't very likely to happen in this one (It's like saying that any non-suicidal character is equally likely to jump down five stories as to take the elevator down - that's very much an exaggerated example, but I don't really know how to put it any other way).
And yeah, if ZONE turns out to be Yuusei, that would be a very convenient loophole for Bruno to 'defect' without actually defecting. I can see it happening :p
Ah, is it? I'll have to look into that. It's been a while since I read the Bible and its background info, but that could be interesting.
Yes, you are correct. Delta in physics (and other math) equations almost always represents change in a variable, and if Wikipedia is anything to go by probably not, it's also the symbol representing this guy, which would make sense in the context of 5D's. LOL, some idiot added a poorly-punctuated comment about Yu-Gi-Oh at the end of the article.
Bruno being "God's eagle" sounds like a solid theory to me. I like it. Although I think maybe it applied more to present-day Bruno since it's present-day Bruno that ZONE asked to go do his bidding and help out Yuusei because ZONE likes to contradict himself. At least, that's how I see it.
Pffffft. I laughed my arse off at that addition on Wikipedia. Jeez, people -- if you want to talk about the use of mythological concepts and names in modern fiction/entertainment, at least make certain that your post follows some basic punctuation rules.
I can't help but think that a good deal of the stereotypes most commonly applied to this fandom are very much true. -_-
It's not necessarily that the whole fandom is comprised of that many stupid people, I don't think. Most people who are YGO fans probably just watch the show or play the card game and don't even bother interacting with other people on the internet or at conventions. (I guess you'd call those "casual fans".) Rather, it's most likely that the dumbest fans are the most vocal and therefore the ones that people are most likely to remember and associate with the fandom as a whole. It's an unfortunate side-effect of large groups. The more people in the group, the more dumbasses there will be to fuck shit up for everybody else. A highschool teacher of mine called this the 10% Rule. Ten percent of the whole population are fucking morons that will continually ruin things for the other ninety percent.
A real-life example would be how the Tea Party makes even slightly conservative people everywhere look like flaming douchetards. Or how people like Fred Phelps and Osama bin Laden make the whole of mainstream monotheism look like a bunch
( ... )
XDD Now I'm imagining that Bruno is somehow Rex. It's breaking my brain to tiny little pieces. Ah, fun, it's always nice to see your fandom look ridiculous :p
*nod* It's kind of hard to say, because we know so little about the other Bruno and how dedicated he was to ZONE. (It's part of my headcanon that he at least helped out with building ZONE's armor thingy, though.) I think it's safe to say that present-day Bruno was created to have the same basic personality and skills as the past (future?) one, but he may have developed differently. (Like how two plants that are genetic clones will turn out very differently if one gets sufficient sustenance and light, and the other doesn't - that's the example my biology teacher used to give). But yeah, tough call.
I've already told you that I very much like this theory of yours, but now I find myself thinking that 5Ds will really manage to completely lose me if something happens to Bruno in the end. He's one of the few characters I've grown strongly attached to and I honestly don't want to see him die just so Yusei can pull off a cliche, shounen-style miracle.
.... In fact, while we're on the subject of miracles, am I the only person who thinks that the most logical outcome would he having Yusei not manage to change destiny and become Zone in the end? That's the nature of a time paradox -- Zone can't exist in order to send Aporia back in time if Yusei's actions somehow keep him from becoming Zone in the end. If Yusei changes destiny, then there is no Zone in the future and thus no reason to split Aporia and toss him back in time, thus this whole arc would have never happened.
