The Giver?!? She has problems with The Giver!?! I guess it is really bad to talk to children about difficult things that happen in life in the safe environment of a classroom; much better to teach them that everything should fit into neat and perfect little categories. Anything out of the ordinary should definitely be eliminated. Oh, wait, now I see why she doesn't want her children to read The Giver - she actually thinks the world portrayed in it is a good idea.
I was going to say more, but it's impossible to argue with that kind of ignorance.
