It's a stormy day, and it's just going to get worse from here on out. Sheriff Hootenany Bornpang doesn't like the looks of that thar storm formulation, so he's coming 'round the mountain...town to let you know about it.

Best listen to what he has to say, won't you?

hell, rp, open, notbornpang, in town

In a strange quirk of home design, the front bedroom of the upstairs apartment of Smith's house has a balcony, a fairly simple affair of wrought iron and a wooden floor. The second floor of a residential house isn't a very high vantage point for looking out onto the town, but one takes what one can get, and it at least suffices for the immediate area, and allows him, as an added bonus, to see the Sheriff as he approaches.

Romeo o Romeo wherefore art thou

Yes. Anyway. Perhaps the sheriff will peer up at this thar balcony enroute to the front door. He gives a cursory wave, and knock knock knockers.

As it happens, the balcony had had its practical uses, back in the days before the plague, other than cheap Shakespeare jokes: The leases for both apartments had clauses specifying no smoking indoors, but the balcony allowed Mr. Morelli a venue to indulge his habit without going downstairs.

"Help you with something, Sheriff?" Wow, John, that's really quite the fashionable poncho and Gorton's fisherman hat combo you have going on there. The sacrifices one apparently must make in the name of keeping relatively dry during ongoing observation in a storm.

This storm drill has been done, perhaps, 8 million times. 8 million and one! "Storm's a big one, John. Head on down to the VFW, if you don't mind." Bornpang minds if John minds.

Madeline and Gabriel's new house is a very recently occupied one, but the lights being on should be a good sign that folks are home. Madeline felt much better with them on- all of them.

Thinnies feel remarkably like sucking on old, palm damp pennies wile chewing tin foil and having someone run a saw biting into something rubbery next to your ear. Maddy's slightly panicking.

Well, knockity knock knock, young madam. AVON CALLING. If, by Avon, you mean Hell's Sheriff.

Madeline, unlike certain other small women of Hell, opens the door promptly with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders and a cup of tea in both trembling hands. She looks much more worried than a grown woman should be at a storm.

"Hello?"

This is where Bornpang explains what is up the river with the storm, and informs her that she should "Get to the VFW as soon as possible. Before dark."

He's a nice man. A nice man with a heavy heart.

Bobby's day has sucked.

First he gets attacked by small children, who despite their cries, do not need any help. Second, he's been frequently pelted by incredibly sharp hail, and don't think the irony's lost on him there.

So now he's outside on the outskirts of town, heading in through the suburbs area and wondering whether he should duck into one of these houses for awhile. They're probably unoccupied, aren't they?

And lo, there came a pale rid--no. Although really, that wouldn't be terribly out of place in Hell, now would it, friends, Romans and countrymen? Either way, it is not a pale rider of any kind, it is a pale incredibly wet, icy sheriff on foot. You can tell because of the badge, which is shiny!

Bornpang has never seen this young man before, but although he is the suspicious - what he prefers to think of as 'cautious' - sort, he's certainly not going to turn anyway away into the storm...unless they are an axe murderer. Given the last few months, this would not surprise him.

"Nice day for it." That is how the good sheriff ascertains whether or not you are a psychopath, Bobby! With weather humour!

Bobby quirks an eyebrow at the sheriff. But it's nice to see another person that doesn't seem interested in eating him, so he's also smiling. "For what, getting hit by lightning? I agree. Hey-" He walks closer, so the sheriff can hear him talking. "-you wouldn't happen to know if any of these houses are unoccupied, would you? I think I've had enough fun out here to last me."

Rowan has finally made it back here. Who knew that a little food excursion would turn into a months-long trek across Wisconsin and God only knows what else, because these Americans all their 'states' all kinds of bizarre shite?

The problem is, there's a storm brewing. She can feel it in her bones, almost. Normally stuff like this doesn't bother her, because hey - she's been rained upon. It's not like London is in the middle of a desert. But maybe she's just paranoid. This town gives her a bad feeling.

He thinks he may recognise this young woman, but he's not entirely sure. At any rate, he'll tip his hat at her. "Ma'am. Might be a good idea to get indoors. At the VFW hall. Hell of a storm coming."

"The VFW hall?" Rowan says, hoping the man will at least point her in the direction. She has no idea where it is, and even if she did, there's little hope of getting there before the storm's over.

Certainly, he'll point her the way! It's not far.
