Rewatch S5: Two Minutes to Midnight (5x21)

Oct 23, 2010 15:52

I'm all excited because I only have two episodes left (now one), so I'm thinking I could actually finish this up this weekend and then post my timeline! Yay! I wish the timeline was better-but it's Show's fault for not giving me any clues at all. They've even stopped putting the date on their newspapers.

End of discussion! This isn't over! )

rewatch s5, season 5

So, in post full of awesome commentary (on one of my favorite episodes) this is what I land on:
That building is down the road from my house! that's the 1st ave overpass they're walking under. If they tilted the camera just a bit to the right while it was on the building, you'd see the skytrain line. That's right...I live just up the hill from "The Warehouse where Death wasn't"

I lived in Wilmington, NC for several years and that is where Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill were/are filmed...along with several movies...so you sound just like me cause anytime one of those is one, I'm like yeah that's so and so, and I've eaten at Leery's Fresh Fish and the Ice House... it's adorable :) and I'm a little jealous you get SPN and I get them...

Oh, and the scene with Dean/Death is absolutely my all time favorite scene...It is fantastically written and acted. I agree with your assessment of Death outlasting everything that was what I always understood Death to be saying.

Well, to be fair, I did MOVE out here for S5. I hadn't been living here previously...so technically, you too, can live where Supernatural is filmed, if you DECIDE to (like I did). Though, it would have been really creepy if I moved here solely because Supernatural filmed out here...it was just happy coincidence. (Though, when making my decision, I did think that Supernatural being filmed out here was a sign from the Universe that I should make the move...so maybe I'm a little creepy).

Anyway, it's pretty cool I must say. There are a lot of shows that are filmed out here, but Supernatural is the only one I watch. Sometimes it can make it difficult for me to suspend my disbelief though. "We're in Ohio, Dean!" Me: Uh, isn't that Vancouver harbour?

And yes, I really don't think they'll ever top the Dean/Death scene.

"I live just up the hill from "The Warehouse where Death wasn't" "

While I live in the city where Death ate pizza :)
(Did you ever see my short story about that?)

"maybe John didn't do SUCH a bad job, raising Sam the way he did"
Perhaps more to the point, Dean didn't do such a bad job with Sam???

I really wish the events of the last three episodes would have been spread out a little longer...we could have done fine without Jesse or Paris Hilton...

Jesse, I didn't mind. But I agree...we could have done without Paris Hilton or Swap Meat :P

True, but who raised Dean? (just playing devil's advocate here)

I DID read your short story about that, I think. It was cool!

This is my favorite episode of S5, mostly because watching it was like riding an emotional rollercoaster. There's humor (the Bobby/Crowley kiss immortalized on Crowley's phone will always be my #1 crack scene on SPN *snerk*), suspense, action, angst, and brotherly love -- basically, everything I love about SPN was shown here.

I really wish they focused a bit more on the rings too, get a bit of mythology behind them. Because I agree with you and borgmama1of5, the season could have done without Paris Hilton and Swap Meat. :D

This is very, very old news but Death's entrance scene is about the coolest thing ever.

And I also think that these last episodes of S5 are partly the reason that I'm not really enjoyng S6. Because Sam is so wonderful in this season - but espeially in these episodes - that this weird robot!Sam just hurts so much more. I don't really want S1/2 Sammy back, I want S5 Sammy back. The one who knows and tries to accepts his faults and still tries to always do the right thing regardless.

Yeah, I'm really worried about Sam too...but I think we'll get him back. Dean just has to find out what is wrong with him and then fix it. *hopes*

I just hope it doesn't take much longer. I don't think my heart can cope. :(
