[Zachariah is in a full blown panic. He doesn't have a clue what's going on. All he knows is that he's in a cell, and cells mean Deadworld.
In his panicked state he doesn't even notice that he's knocked his journal open. In fact he's not aware that it's even there.]
No no no no no no. No! Not again! How did they find me? I can't do this again! I

The one day she chooses to actually poke around? Yeah, Zachariah, prepare to encounter your first gryphon.
She makes a sound of surprise in the back of her throat as she sees the human. She's a big girl, though, and doesn't have nearly enough time to move her horse-sized bulk from his path.
You ready to barrel into a gryphon or trip yourself up while trying NOT to, Zachariah?? :D]

Running running running runn-WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?
Zachariah tries to stop but he's going too fast and that thing is just too close. He barrels into it in a mess of limbs and wings.]

She lays on the stone floor for a moment after impact, dazed, the human sprawled mostly on top of her. She slowly begins to figure out what limbs are where, testing her wings as she cranes her head to look at the human.]
Are .. arrre you alrrright?

His eyes widen and he flails backwards landing on his ass.
What the hell is going on? Did they drug him? Just what is this thing and WHY IS IT TALKING!?]
Y-you you you're y-ou...
[He seems to be stuck.]

She's just resettling her wings, grimacing at one bent feather that she immediately sets to preening back into place. Luckily she hadn't broken the feather: bent was a pain, but she'd manage. Broken was altogether another problem and one she could bleed to death from if not careful.
Funny that such a tiny thing could kill her, hmm?
At his stammering, she tilts her head slightly and eyes him.]
A grrryphon .. and you arrre a human, yesss?

Confusion is overriding panic at this point, although the panic is still there. He' actually starting to wonder if he just lost his mind, but he still feels pretty sane for a guy who's going crazy.
The ability to use words seems to have escaped him at the moment and he just nods his head.]

She studies the man curiously, noting his rather obvious panic and confusion. She's not dumb, nor really are any of her species, and she does not approach or otherwise move in on him. He's already upset and she's really no plan of getting herself hurt when she has no idea what he is capable of.
After all, the mages of her world looked like otherwise normal humans; normal until they were flinging lightning from their fingers.
She shifts slightly, but it's only to lower her hindquarters to the stone floor, tail flicking around to curl over her forefeet.
But, he's nodding and not screaming or running and that was at least a good sign.]
You arrre new herre? Just arrrrrived in an unfamiliarrrr rroom?
Reply
Zachariah takes a few deeps breaths to calm himself down. It doesn't entirely work. He's still on edge and his mind is still racing, but at least he can form words now.]
What's going on? Where am I?
...Is this Deadworld?
[After seeing this her he's not so sure where he is anymore. Maybe Gerard started breeding strange mutant monsters for the games, but if that's the case how did they not find out about this sooner?]
Reply
She watches intently as he takes several breaths, seeming to regain control of his words as he does so.]
You are at Holloways' Keep .. you have been brought here as an offering of sanctuary by this places' Lord Deior.
I .. I do not know of this Deadworld that you speak ..
[Inner lids flick across her golden eyes, her head tilting back to the other side.]

Now he just looks utterly confused.]
Holloway's Keep? What district are we in?
[Not once has he ever heard of this place. And she's never heard of Deadworld? Maybe she's lying to him.
...alright that might be a bit of a stretch. This is so confusing.]
Reply
We are in no District as I believe you know yourself to be, I am afraid. This place is gone and removed from your own homeland. The Lord here, Deior, wrote a missive to all of us in our journals.
[She looks him over and is not foolish enough to think he stopped and collected his belongings.]
I am sorry .. the place you call home is .. [She shifts uncomfortably, looking quite unhappy.] It is gone..
Reply
[Because that's totally what she means right? He's never been outside Halis so who knows, maybe something like her is common in another country. Although the logical part of his brain tells him that there would be information on something like no matter where you are.]
Journal? Missive? I don't have any of that.
[Then he stiffens.]
Gone? Gone how? I was just there!
Reply
It .. it is another world, sir ..
[She sees him stiffen and expects the outburst, but even so she flinches as he yells. She shifts, but shrinks into herself all the same.]
I am sssorrry .. I know only what I have been told and what otherrrrss have sssaid ..
[She swallows, pupils pinning as she suddenly wishes to be anywhere else but here.]
Ssssomething hass happened to ourrr worrrldssss .. they have been unmade ..

No, no, no they're lying. They've got to be lying. This is just some trick of Gerard's. They can't be gone. They can't be! I can't lose them!
[He hides his face in his hands and just sits there. He does his best to fight back another wave of panic and keep tears from spilling from his eyes.]
They can't be gone...

Zhaneel shifts from forefoot to forefoot, looking more and more uncomfortable as the man reacts quite poorly to the news. She cannot blame him, but she feels terribly for being the one forced to give him the news of his worlds' end.]
I know no Gerard .. I am sssorrry .. I have ssseen nothing that sssuggestss that they arrre lying to uss ..
[He covers his face and Zhaneel steps forward, reacting before she has time to second guess herself. She headbumps the man, her forehead planted square against the middle of his chest.]
I have only been herrre a ssshorrt time .. otherrrss have found thossse they know .. Do not lossse hope that thossse you have lossst will rrrreturrrn to you.
[Her voice is tentative as she tries to calm the man .. she doesn't even consider that a gryphon's version of comfort might not be precisely the same as say, a dog leaning into its master. It's the thought, right? Hopefully ( ... )

He doesn't respond until Zhaneel bumps her head against his chest. Zachariah pulls his hands away from his face and looks down at her. That's not what he was expecting. Slowly, he places a hand atop her head and begins to pet her. What else is he supposed to do?]
...I'm sorry I yelled at you.
[His voice is quiet but very apologetic.]
