Not Hallucinating

I'm still hearing something in the walls. It comes and goes, though. I've asked some of my neighbors if they're hearing anything, too, and they report similar sounds. I think it's time for a hunt. Chekov's with me. Whatever-It-Is is no match for two of the brightest young minds in Starfleet! Right ( Read more... )

What I'm wondering is how a mouse would manage to get aboard in the first place, if that's what it is.

If you do go getting into the walls, do me a favor and take one of the lads from engineering with you to make sure you don't go knocking the wiring about, aye? Not that I don't trust you and Mr. Chekov, but I'd feel better knowing you had an extra set of eyes to make sure nothing vital gets knocked loose.

My first thought was that something had gotten out of one of the animal labs on board, but the animal lab people usually keep track of their subjects pretty well. Or perhaps someone sneaked a pet aboard. If it came in through cargo, I figure someone would have heard something sooner.

I can ask Mr. Singh if he wants to accompany us, if that will put your mind at ease.

I don't see why you've gotta drag me into this.

And if anything got onto the ship, it would have been beamed aboard via cargo, probably. I'd check perishables first and see if there's an infestation.

Accidentally beaming on with the cargo makes sense, but you'd think the bioscanners would catch it. Might want to take a look at those and see if they're going faulty.

You'd think they would, but weirder things have happened. That's why we should check anything that is meant as food. If there is some kind of rodent infestation, that is where they are going to start.

I'll help with the scanners if they are the problem.

Just one more thing to add to the to-do list, aye? I'll see if I can't take a look at them, but I'm only taking a half-shift tomorrow, so you might be looking at them yourself.

Does this mean you will be teaching us how to fence?

Yep! That is, depending on how quickly you ensigns pick up hand-to-hand combat.

Hah! Hand-to-hand combat is child's play! I am ready for swords and knives!

Well, I still think we should work up to that-the thought of you wielding knives kind of frightens me.
