I am coming to realize that in order to effectively promote nonviolence, I may have to be ok with people thinking I'm crazy... or a huge bitch. To cope, I will continually examine exactly what it means to be a huge bitch in this culture, and drink lots of hot tea.

I have several unstructured hours at work before Vagina Monologues rehearsal #1, but I have to use most of them to do things with paper. Not interesting things, like origami or poetry, but tally and revise. My college roommate worked in the Printing & Mailing department for a year and she told me that she once told me how much she enjoyed her 2 hour shifts - that she would race herself and try to beat her best time at collating, copying, etc. I'm glad I don't work for P&M, but there is something that I still find meditative and pleasing about ( Read more... )

The office magic faerie ended up visiting me at work today, because all of my projects seem to be opening up and moving along, which is awesome because sometimes I feel like anything I try to get done responds like a toad to the horse whisperer. Sometimes when I am at my office desk reading my email or a news story I find myself covering my mouth with one finger, with my whole hand. This is true whether or not my coworkers are crowding the door, figuring out what to do with the most current crisis with the residents downstairs.
