Separation Anxiety

A few weeks back, we found a young robin that had just fallen out of the tree. That isn't unusual for robins, who are then fed and protected by the parents until they can take care of themselves. Aww. Yeah you did the right thing, but just think, you helped save the life of that little robin. :)

I'd be sad too. They have personalities and stuff just like all of us.

Having hand-raised baby birds from hatchlings (by the way, I'm breeding cockatiels now :D), I know how much of a wrench it is when it's time to send them to their new homes.

If it wasn't such a haul down to you, I'd be tempted by a baby cockatiel. We're thinking that someday, if we can afford it, we'll look into getting an African Gray.

Well, Breeding season is over for now but will resume in october/november. Let's see how lucky we get. If you want to do some research, my pair tend to put out Lutinos (those are the light yellow/white ones with the bright orange cheek patches. Because of the way the genetics work, they will always be female), Normal (as far as anything "normal" comes out of my house) Greys, the occasional Cinnamon Pearl (which are the kind of white dappled ones). I could go on about Bird Genetics for hours. But I won't ( ... )

Hey, let me know when you start the next season for breeding cockatiels? I think that might be the best choice for a pet. :)

Will probably put the "nest box" in the cage towards the middle of September. Assuming they get right to it and have eggs that hatch, the babies should be ready to go by Yulhanumas.

Cool. I'm also considering some of the other breeds, since I want to make sure I find the right bird for us. Do you know much about Quakers and Eclectus?
