Been argueing with Adam. About women in church. And then later yelled at him over a math problem. And then about his negativity towards women. Not happy.

But an interesting bible verse for everyone. Comments please. If you have any religious friends, send them to this entry and ask them to comment. I want all the input I can take.

1 Timothy 2:11- ( Read more... )

I agree with zero... plus you really should stop molding yourself and your beliefs for your b/f for him to except you.. be yourself. Just cause Adam is a christian doesn't mean you have to be... formulate your own beliefs based on what YOU fell not what others want you to feel. If you want to be a christian then by all means follower your heart, I just find it interesting you were very against the whole belief in the bible thing when you dated me... makes me wonder if our relationship was an act... was I even dating you... or just an empty shell molding to what I beleived... be yourself.

"Women were created from mens ribs, not from the foot to be step on, or from the head to be superior, but from the side to be equal, and under the arm to be protected."

I've looked at alot of denominations of christianity and lots of other religions as well, and it seems to me that all religions, whether they say so or not, are really serving and praising the same God just with cultural skews. The basics of Zen Baptism ( of which I suppose I named but did not invent) are that as long as you beleive that Jesus died for you and you ask for his forgiveness then you are saved. All the other debated stuff in the Bible and even other scriptures is up for interpretation. How are we to know or even try to say what they mean... We are human, not perfect. Read it , learn from it, its the word of God, but just because it is that you won't be able to fully understand it. It's about coming to peace within yourself and you do that through Jesus. Easy, see?

That's it! I don't know if I would say I'm Zen Baptist, but I definitely agree with you. One of my struggles with the bible is that it has been translated in so many ways, and edited so many times. Some theologians even argue that some books of the bible (i.e. Timothy) were not even written by who they claim to be. St. Paul supposedly wrote Timothy, but some theologians date the book after Paul's death. Also, there is speculation that Timothy was added by the church to maintain control. In Timothy, it seems that Paul believes that women are not equal to men, when in fact, in other books Paul speaks about "fellow workers" and apostles that were women! But you're right, the main theme is that Jesus died for our sins, and that by surrendering our lives to him, we receive salvation.

kristi. you have to realize that in those times...women were second best. to every man. times have changed, and God knows this. Do you really think he has a problem with women taking control? Kristi-if he did, he wouldn't be speaking to you and trying to get you to follow his word. trust me. but like i said. being religious is definitly a one sided choice. you can't have anyone try to push it on you or convert you...because than you'll always have doubts. i have no doubts about my christianity. i'll tell you that much. and i wish everyone could love God and be religious..but that's just a false dream. i tell you what. there is a non-denominational church in dunlap i'd like to take you to, only if you want. It has a women preacher. if you want to go sometime..let me know a little in advance and we'll go down there. i miss going to church, but i can't find a church who follows everything i believe in...it's hard. i just practice religion in the comfort of me own home. but i long to go to church...i do. i hope everything works out for ( ... )

I would love to go to that church in Dunlap. It'll have to wait a couple of weeks though. I'm getting baptized this Sunday, and then next Sunday is Easter, but maybe the one after that?
Anyways, I feel like I have made my own decision about my religion. I wanted a relationship with Christ. And not because of Adam, although I think he used Adam as one way of drawing me back to Christ. And after researching on women leaders, I feel like I have my answer, that God does not see me as being less than a man.
