-------------------------------------

Gillian’s hand reached for the door before her mind caught up with what she was doing. Her heart pounded so hard she was amazed her fingers didn’t shake as she engaged the lock. Not with fear. Arousal. An almost crippling rush unlike anything she had felt before. She never took her eyes off Cal, waiting to see ( Read more... )

Holy hell, I loved this whole fic so much. You were so in character with your writing style, once again. ;)
You went through so many emotions and kept it so intriguing the whole time. It was just SO GOOD!

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story and that you felt like it was true to the characters. This was my first attempt at writing from Gillian's POV and it was fun. There was definitely a lot going on in there and I'm really pleased you liked it so much.

I've already commented on FFN but I do want to add a bit more here. When I read the summary I was expecting a LtM rendition of the movie the Secretary. This was so much more than that and I must say the most profound thing for me was the way you built up that incredible sexual high then in the space of a few paragraphs turned a thrilling high to a guilt ridden low, only to rebuild it back in such a relatively short span. Bringing about that kind of emotional response is a sign of how exceptionally you've written these characters ( ... )

Hmm...a LtM rendition of Secretary would definitely be interesting. lol.

Thanks so much for your comments (both here and on ff.net). I'm particularly glad to hear that you felt the shifts in mood were well-executed...that was something I worked on for a while. I can only imagine how jarring that entire scenario would be, and I wanted the characters to work through it in an honest way. While, of course, moving the story along.

I truly appreciate the in-depth comments and thoughts you've offered. It's fantastic to really get to hear how my work is interpreted, and what stood out. Thank you.

Wow. Just WOW. You have a fabulous Gillian voice, calm and analytical and caring. It's a great character piece to show just how resilient Gillian is, despite what Cal may think otherwise. The sex serves to highlight that, which moves the story beyond the run-of-the-mill PWP.

My one quibble is (and I hesitate to say it), I don't generally interpret Cal as being so self-loathing as you portray him in this story. He does regret many things, though IMHO not usually to the point where he's almost paralyzed by his fear. But, that is strictly my personal preference; he needed that level of self-loathing to make your story work.

Gillian's interaction with Emily is wonderful, and I love the care you took to make everyone's reaction believable. Awesome story.

Thank you! This was my first attempt at writing from Gillian's POV and it was a lot of fun. I'm used to writing strong female MC's in my other non-fanfic work, so it was good to get back to my roots ( ... )

I have no idea why it took me so long to read and review this, but here I am. This is absolutely brilliant and fantastic. The first half with Emily interrupting and the way that Gillian handled it is amazing. I thought all the reactions were appropriate, Cal included, with his fear and doubt and anger. I love that Emily would go to Gillian in her time of need and that Emily would be fine with Cal and Gillian's relationship. It's touching to see their interactions.

But what I love the most, other than the hot sex, was Gillian's strength and resolve. She's not weak, and she's not as innocent as Cal likes to believe and I love that you delivered that in the way she takes care of Emily and comforts Cal. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
