I have a reuseable coffer filter!! woohoo....but may I just say about the last one-the same number of junk mail is produced, and if you don't take it they will just throw away the excess, most likely. I also walk/bus everywhere :P I'm not sooo bad....

Yay for reuseable coffee filters! Coffee grounds themselves are compostable too, pretty nifty huh?

Actually, when I worked as a junk mail distributor (aka sales associate), what we did was when we had leftover materials from one day, we'd just use em the next day. And then we didn't have to produce as much junk mail. You can learn wonderful things working in strange jobs :)

take a travel mug with you when you go to the coffee shop and ask them to put your coffee in it rather than into one of their paper cups. At Timmy's, you get a 5 cent discount for bringing your own travel mug. - but you can't get "roll up the rim" if you don't get their cup! :)

Actually, you can. If you send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Tim Horton's co., they will send you a rim tab. I swear I'm not making this up, it's on their website, along with instrutions on how to roll up the rim (I think anyone who's too stupid to figure out how to roll up the rim doesn't deserve to win a prize) :)

I think they will also give you a rim tab if you ask for your beverage in a travel mug, but I'd have to check that to be sure. At the very least, roll up the rim is only one month or so per year, and using a travel mug for the rest of the year will sure as heck cut down on paper cups going into the trash!
