Title: Dreadful Longing (II)
Rating: R
Summary: Red Riding Hood and the Wolf again. Because she did go back.
Author's note: I have no excuse, so let's just say the characters insisted and I was too fond of them to refuse. With thanks to geekmama for beta reading!

As always, your writing is so evocative. I love all your little details of the environment that just keep me feeling and smelling and seeing the setting. The sense of the mythic and allegorical still infuses your story like bones showing through skin. And of course I applaud your heroine for her desire to be fearless rather than pretty and for her insistence on equality.

Thank you! I do appreciate you reading this one too, and I'm glad there was still a sense of the mythic about it. She's discovering her own bravery, I think, and she's quite determined not to be intimidated by him (much), even if he makes it difficult for her, being what he is.

I love the hum of excitement underneath this one - it's different from the dangerous edge in the first part, but just as effective.

The details are fantastic, as always - the howl of the wolf each night, his animalistic way of moving, the trade of scents at the end. They each leave their mark on the other, in various ways.

Yes, hum--that's the pulse there isn't it? Blood in the vein...hot and sweet!

Maybe it should have been darker, and I hope it isn't entirely lacking edge, but it felt like the dynamic had to be slightly different if/when she returned. And if it's as effective, that's good!

Many thanks for commenting :-)

More later, fearless herewith--becos this is very good and quite wicked--leaves the nicest taste in my mouth, strawberries I think or possibly blackberries, rough in their sweetness, but such a taste, unforgettable. And the desire for that unique flavor, (it's like eating black sunshine) would bring you back even if the brambles tear your skin the least bit. Oh yes, well done--this tale bears retelling becos it has so many levels and each invites scrutiny, a little fear, and eager acceptance of what comes next. Yes, indeed, to smell of the wolf...how many are willing to that?

I'm glad to see you here! I thought you might be too busy with the exchange to have a chance to stop by (good luck with everything!). Thanks for letting me know you approved of the final line :-)

Who's the inspiration for the wolf? Sexy and scary as hell!!!

Yay! That was what I was hoping for. *g* Will you be disappointed if I say he's only in my head? I suppose I've taken inspiration from several places, but not any specific actor or other person that I can name.

Disappointed? not at all - I guess I'm not the only one with a macabre and vivid imagination!

Seriously I'm looking forward to more of this.

Actually we all need more Adult Fairy Tales if only so the world can forget Twilight!

No, not the only one :-)

I admit I don't have any definite plans for more, but then again, I didn't after writing the first one either, so we'll see what happens!
