Obligatory 'haven't been on a while' post
2 years ago. Yep. I thought I had nothing to post about. I read my last post, not only am I unhappy, I sound tired. I'm not dead yet!!
Wow, I don't even realize the last time I posted on here. I'm going to assume its been months, probably since China. Not much has occurred in my household. The wife graduated from nursing school, passed the NCLEX exam and began her day shift at the hospital. My job is mostly waking her up at 5am and making sure she gets going. Waiting for that 2nd M&M
I have been trying to get in shape. Shocking, I know. Wait for the revelation. I was actually on a great path when I returned from China. I had dropped 15 lbs (thanks jet lag). So I was around 200 lbs. I decided to try a running program I had seen in my Men's Health Magazine. It was a gradual program that would build me up to running 10 miles. I ( Read more... ) -
End of China trip
Sorry to give a cliff's notes version of the last few days, but got kinda burnt out by all of that posting. After visiting my mother-in-law's side of the family, we also had to visit my father-in-laws side. This side doesn't like the other. E doesn't particularly like her aunts. Took a little break
I know I left off on my journey to China, but I got a little burned out doing it daily. I will finish my tales very soon. Also, E and I begin our final semester of nursing school. I do say 'our' because our focuses shift greatly. She concentrates on school work, I do everything else. Not complaining, but I will be very happy once this final ( Read more... ) -
Chongqing with the Xu family
It feels a little odd putting the two days we spent with E's mother's side of the family into one entry, but unfortunately, it wasn't that eventful. We awoke that morning and was told to come down to their apt and have breakfast around 9am. We had arrived to our room around 2am, but her aunt and uncle were in the boat, so who are we to complain? Mt Emei or at least part of it
We awoke the next morning and headed off to Mount Emei. E had traveled to this location before and loved it. So we thought we should see it, but this trip fell way short of her previous. Tour 2, more of the same and a little less
Our second tour headed to Mt. Emei early the next morning. We got about 3-4 hrs of sleep. We waited outside of a hotel we were probably supposed to stay at for a while until our bus arrived. Somehow, they found a bus worse than our previous one. But the trip was only a couple of hours, so no big worry. Our guide was a small Chinese woman. E said ( Read more... ) -
A look behind the curtain
The truth is I am a few days behind on my telling stories of China. Okay, a lot of days behind. So behind, in fact, that I am getting set to leave China this morning. I will continue to tell stories of my travels. Hope you will still enjoy. See you in America. My brain will join me a week later. -
JiuZhaiGou day 2 and the day 3 meltdown
Day 2 in JiuZhaiGou started early. We got up for breakfast at our hotel and there was a recurring theme with the meals. They always consisted of a tofu dish, 2 or 3 cabbage dishes and then a wild card or 2. This was true for every meal. For breakfast the wild cards were steamed bread and rice porridge.
