A rare political post.

I think my political leanings are pretty obvious to most people - posting the LetCaliforniaRing video, for example. But in case you've been living under a rock, I'm VERY liberal. I'm queer. I'm pro-choice. Generally, that means I vote Democrat, although I do pay attention and if there was a fairly liberal Republican who I felt was a better ( Read more... )

The thing is, I think most rational people agree. CNN just put up at article where a McCain adviser claims that Obama and Biden are being sexist about Palin....and no where in the article does she actually give any examples of sexist behavior. Everyone in the comments is baffled and outraged.

totally agree. I'm still O_o over the choice of VP for them. It's so transparent that it's sad.

Not to harp on working mothers, but damn, her teenage daughter is pregnant and NEEDS her right now, not to mention the 5 month old with Downs.

Argh indeed. You know I don't disagree with anything else, really. I'm not as disgusted as you, but yeah, I... wouldn't have voted Republican anyway. This just makes any degree of "hm" left go way the fuck farther away.

I don't think it's harping on working mothers at all. If my daughter was going through any kind of enormous life changing crisis like being pregnant and unmarried, and if I had a special needs child on top of that, I would definitely NOT be running for the second in command of the US.

I'm with you. I felt ill that they chose a woman with those sorts of political beliefs--a woman who would rather her 17 year old have a kid and get married than get an education or be something other than a baby machine and probably didn't teach her about safe sex. UGH! SO ANGRY!

No she probably was taught "abstinence only birth control" which is a staple of the republican right and a horrible failure statistically.

Henry Rollins has an entire monologue on this on one of his CDs. If I can find transcript I will have to post it.

I'm puzzled by this choice. If McCain wanted to shore up support from the evangelicals, why not Pawlenty? It seems rather foolish to chase after a few PUMAs by selecting Palin. AFter all, she's nothing like Hillary. In fact, she's the anti-Hllary. Any sane Hillary supporter should be able to see through that.
