You can a lot of people do (myself included) especially now that there's a Completed Fills List one alongside of it. It's a good way to let people know a fic is out there and updated especially in the earlier parts. I know I only came across this one the first time when the other fill in this posted posted there...so people may not have noticed it as sad as it seems... :-/

This is such an interesting little story, so far! It seems like you really know a lot about the things you're writing about too - it makes for a convincing story. :)
Keep it up, anon! I was sad to see this unfinished, but then I smacked myself in the head once I realized that all of your updates were ... from yesterday, haha. *doesn't pay attention to timestamps, clearly* I'm really looking forward to the next installment!!

Aw thanks! ^//^
I'm going to try to finish this. I used to be a cadet, and was medically discharged rather abruptly and against my will. So...I'm hoping this will be therapeutic in its own way. I'll force myself to finish it. :P

Oh snap Anon I cannot cannot cannot wait until Amelia and Ivan meet again. x3 This fill is so much love! :D
I also can't help but think of my cousin's husband (cousin-in-law?) who graduated from the Air Force Academy and was married in the chapel. I'll have to pick his brain some.

Dude! I can't wait for them to get back together again either! I've been brainstorming for the past couple days between during classes, and I really hope you guys like it too! ^^
(Cousin-in-law works for me) You should have him read it! See if I got the details right by an alum. ;)
Glad that you're liking this as much as I like writing it!!

An Author's Quick Annotation

Ok, a quick rundown of more USAFA nuances.
1) A GR is a test. The military is notorious for acronyms. I'm fairly certain that "GR" derived because the Academy needed more acronyms. It stands for "Graded Review." I guess that sounds better than test?
2)I try to research as much as I can when I write. 2a) Something New Boutique is a real store in Colorado Springs, and I looked through their inventory for dresses. This is the dress Amelia tries on. The Bonnefoy's are very fashionable people. It's not bad is it? For the wedding reception? 2b) UT tuition for 2008 is correct.
3) Jeannette is Belgium's character. Ariel is Seychelles. Mrs. B is my own OC. Just think older Belgium. Please let me know if my OCs come off as dumb or unlikable. I'm trying to base them off of people I knew while I was a cadet, and I may drop the ball.

I'M BACK!!!!!!!! To OP: I am so, so, so, so, so, so x a bajillion times sorry that it took me...what, two months to finish up parts 8 and 9? I've been struggling with my other fills, not to mention my multi-chapter not annon'd fic, as well as ScriptFrenzy and school. UGH I'M SO SORRY CAN YOU FORGIVE ME??? I hope these next installments make up for my rude absence.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 8.Jones, to be quite honest, was fucking tired of this shit. She and the rest of her six-cadet alcove are hovering somewhere around six inches off the ground for almost three minutes all because Oxenstierna couldn’t open his fucking mouth and talk at a pitch high enough for human ears to pick up. What’s the specs of the Gunship? Cadet Captain Gilbert H. Beilschmidt, Squadron Training Officer, had asked. Probably the easiest aircraft in the entirety of contrails and all Oxenstierna could say was “AC-130 H slash U. Range…” and then faded into vibrations and grunts and how the hell did he graduate kindergarten
“On your backs.”
No grunts. No moaning. Just a fell swoop to the ground. Like an oiled machine. They now stare at the smooth butter cream ceiling, counting the grooves in the paint. Jones slides her hands on the small of her back, which will give herself enough leverage to get her feet up in the air. She holds her breath, waiting and-
“Six inches. Ready. Up.”
Héderváry calls out the cadence: One, two, three.
They call out the count: One.
One, two, three.
Two.
Jones is a swimmer, had been a swimmer for years. She had washboard abs in the sixth grade, but this…this hurts. They aren’t even anywhere close to Recognition, and this is how they’re treated?
“Jones!” Héderváry calls between cadences, which Beilschmidt has more than happily picked up for her.
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
“What is Father Dennis Edward O’Brian’s quote?”
“Ma’am!” Jones replies, screams, neck aching. She knows this one. She knows this one. And she will be damned if she doesn’t show Héderváry that she belongs here at USAFA, right
9.
Every once and a while, Ivan likes to get out of the apartment. Every once and a while, Ivan allows himself some time off on the weekends to go out and actually enjoy Colorado. It is a beautiful state, and he regrets not seeing as much of it as he would like. Much nicer than New York. Cleaner. He goes to Silver Cascade Falls, climbs up to the top, and just watches and listens. The cool air smells of fresh pine and dry leaves, crushed under the weight of heavy soled shoes. Water rushes below, trying to race the wind to the bottom, reminding visitors to remain quiet with a polite shush; droplets kiss his cheeks
He dreams of having enough money to have a basket as full as Marcus and Leila’s. He would buy a George Forman grill, and Emeril Lagasse pots and pans, and Iron Chef knives. He would buy vegetables, real, fresh vegetables: potatoes, chives, garlic, onions, turnips and rutabagas. The garlic would simmer in the saucepan with a chunk of butter, billowing steam that smelled just like home. He would chop the onions chink, chink, chink, and toss them hiss into the saucepan and they would pop and shiver. He’d dice the potatoes, turnips and rutabagas, drizzle them with garlic and onion, dash a bit of rosemary on them, put them in a pan and set them in the oven to cook. Twenty minutes in the oven. Enough time to prepare the pirogyi
Ivan wants to crawl into a hole. A small hole on the other end of the planet. When he’s shrunken his size and made it into the hole, he wants to cover it with a giant rock. A giant rock so no one can see him or his oafishness again. His cheeks flush deeper red. They almost match the color of the beets a few cans behind him
