It was cute and I liked it but a piece of constructive criticism? It was jarring to see U.S., while I know it's more pc than america, america is what fandom uses so seeing US threw me out of the flow of the story. But I liked it! :D

Glad you enjoyed it.
I've actually seen U.S. used more than America in the fandom, like when he's paired with U.K. I can't recall ever seeing that pairing written as 'America/UK,' or 'UK/America.' Maybe it's a pairing-specific thing, but I'd rather use U.S. than America.
Maybe I prefer writing U.S. since it's the actual country name or because 'America' brings 'North America' to my mind. So Mexicans and Canadians are also 'Americans' in the sense that we share the continent with the U.S.
It just comes down to personal preference, I guess.

OP really enjoyed this anon! Thanks~!
To clarify what everyone else has been saying: The writer of the manga is Japanese, even though he lives in the States. Japanese people call the US "America" and the UK "England" (or, well, 'igirisu'). So, the character's official names are England and America, which is why everyone uses those.
It's also way easier to use that 'the US' when writing!
I agree with you on 'the United States' as versus using 'America' outside of the Hetalia characters, but within this fandom I would recommend using 'America' as it's the character's official name. ^_^
