crazily detail prompt; I apologize anonymous February 6 2010, 02:30:32 UTC
America confesses to England, England says “yes”…

…but he was lying.

England doesn’t love America like that; he only loves him like his little brother, almost-son. He thinks that accepting is the only way in which he can be close to America again, even though he doesn’t want the sex and the passionate kisses (the platonic ones he treasures). He’s just glad to be able to be around him. Ouch.

England can’t really stand the situation anymore and is stressed out. France notices and gets him to a bar, England gets drunk and tells him everything.

You can now take this three ways, anons:

1)England realises he’s gone about this all wrong and is only hurting them both and tells America. America can be hurt but accept it -perhaps after a conversation with France of his own- or not accept it and force himself on England trying to make him feel “the love ( ... )

anon hopes this is okay...

“I like you.”

Arthur tapped a pen against his pursed lips as he leaned forward in his seat, only half listening to the meeting (it was almost over anyway). He was watching Alfred next to him from the corner of his eye, studying the way his former colony was doodling a bird in the corner of his notepad. His glasses were slipping down the bridge of his nose and his teeth were pinching his bottom lip in concentration.

Alfred looked up suddenly and turned his head to meet Arthur’s gaze. A warm smile slipped across his face and Arthur couldn’t help but smile back.

“I really like you.”

A gloved hand slipped from the table to Arthur’s leg, squeezing playfully. The slight smile fell from Arthur’s lips at the touch and he hastily looked away, dropping his attention back to the papers in front of him.

“…I like you too.”Liar, he thought as he hesitantly reached his hand down under the table to rest it over Alfred’s ( ... )

Oooh I'm SUCH a glutton for dramatics of messy relationships! You've got to continue soon!

Oh damn, this is fantastic; the way you've written this, I don't even know who I should feel sorrier for. And I can actually see these two idiots getting themselves into this situation. :O

You're doing a good job with this one; I like how you managed to work in the fact that Arthur thinks of Alfred as his "former colony" rather than his lover in the second damn sentence, yet still make it subtle. NICE, anon. Every little detail counts, too, such as the way Arthur can't help but smile back at Alfred; but then the second he's reminded of his lie and the situation he's in, he loses the smile.

And I also like how Alfred is so happy -- infatuated like a newly-wed, I guess -- that he still hasn't yet noticed that anything is wrong, yet. Not that Arthur was ever especially demonstrative or straight-forward, but ... This just feels really realistic for their relationship. ♥

This just started breaking my heart, though: Arthur never particularly enjoyed this part. That's so understated that it really gets to me, even though we haven' ( ... )

Very happy you're enjoying it~

even though we haven't gotten to the (inevitable?) point where Arthur is worrying himself to death over losing Alfred when he finds out the truth. I can see him practically torturing himself with anxiety, avoiding Alfred by going out for drinks more often, etc., all while pretending nothing's wrong.

I'm actually really looking forward to writing that part

Really interesting start anon!

Hmm, I was just wondering if this was going to have a happy ending or a sad ending?

Ouch, that last line

OP loves this. I like that it didn't turn into an angstfest right away, because really, England just started doing this and he probably is fine for the moment, just...sometimes, not so much. It may be me, but I also got the feeling that he blinds himself to the real nature of their relationship most of the time, and frowns and feels bad when they're having sex because escaping it in those moments is impossible.

And poor America! I thought authors would go for the more passionate atittude, but he's so happy, his joy so obvious in the story, that my heart clenched even more because of it. And the fact that he wanted to be intimate with England so much he sped up the process to be in bed with him...ouch. OUCH.

Excellent, anon!

Ah I'm glad this is turning out okay then!

And, yeah, Arthur is kind of pretending that their relationship is different, but he's forced to face it when it comes to intimate moments.

<3 I hope you continue to enjoy it >_<

Poor Arthur, nothing. He's purposely deceiving Alfred, despite it being for good intentions. As the older and more experience one, he should know better.

It's more like mutual torturing? Because in long run neither of them will get what them want.

And yes, Arthur is purposely deceiving Alfred. But no. I don't think it's for good intentions, at least imo not as much as for he doesn't want to risk losing Alfred. Of course Alfred's going to find out. Cue angst.

Arthur gets pity because we see his pain this chapter. He kind of chose to suffer. They both will. That's why I love this fill.

~*~

Alfred loved this.

He loved falling asleep at night with Arthur tucked against his side and their legs tangled together. He loved dragging him to McDonalds and coaxing him into eating at least one fry and then laughing at the expression he would make. He even loved waking up in the mornings and finding Arthur in the kitchen attempting an egg and sausage breakfast, although he would much prefer that Arthur just stay in bed with him ( ... )
