This anon is extremely weak against dog stories, because I love my dog to bits and pieces.
The nations through their pets' perspective (a la The Art of Racing in the Rain if you have read that book) from the moment they've been taken in (as either a stray, previously abused, or born and bought) to death (whether it be natural or some outside forces).
Pairings if you desire (bestiality not encouraged).
(I feel like this was requested before, but I can't remember, so forgive me if this request appeared before, anons!)

"The dog is the only animal that has seen his god." ~Author Unknown
At first, there was only darkness. Darkness, and sound, and smells, and warmth.
Mama...
I don’t have a voice of my own. I don’t...really know who I am, or what I am, or anything, all I know is that there’s warmth and sound and smells, and the smells lead me to food.
Then I open my eyes. And suddenly, there’s squeaking and yips and barks, and there’s squirmy white things (brothers and sisters) and a big white thing that makes food (Mama) and these weird pink furless things that stare and use their long-toed, bald paws to pick me up, and pet me

My human has a lot of things in his house. There are so many smells, so much to see, so much to explore. As soon as he puts me down, I’m off, scrabbling across his slickery floors, clack-a clack-a clack-a. I sniff his furniture. I sniff the corners. I sniff the fireplace. I sniff the floor cabinets in the kitchen. I sniff the bottom of the refrigerator. I sniff the carpet-covered steps leading up onto the sitting-place

Much though I do hate it that Special Friend Alfred pushes me out of my spot on my human’s bed when he’s around, I hate it even more when he and my human have had a row, as my human calls it. I would probably call it a fight

Awww...this is so cute! Al is adorable, and I love how dedicated his is to Arthur. I especially love Al's view of Arthur and Alfred's relationship, how they both want to be alpha. I'm glad that someone is there to help out Arthur when he cries, even though his food is still hated.

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - UnknownIt starts to get harder to go up and down stairs. That’s when I first start to realize that I’ve been living with my human for a very long time. It’s hard to mark time even if I knew how. Most dogs get to mark time with their humans getting older, or with children growing up

Author!Anon this story is simply breaking my heart. It's amazing how something so sad and sweet, simple and yet incredibly profound, can be when written from a perspective of a dog.
(The name Special-Friend Alfred just killed me with it's cuteness!)
This anon can really relate to England because she lost her dog of thirteen years almost two years ago and it still hurts. (No matter how mad I got at him when he ate out of the bathroom garbage.)

D'aawwwww, I'm really seeing my aging dog reflected in Al. The loss of agility, the tiredness, and England, oh man. There are some things you just never get used to.

Al has such personality, matter of fact, cheerful, and curious.
And its adorable that Arthur can't sleep without a drooling Al on his chest.
