October 18 Monday, 11:11 a.m. Alfred is still asleep. After an hour passes and Russia doesn’t see him, he checks the bedroom and watches the way Alfred’s eyelids twitch as he dreams. He clutches Russia’s pillow like he’s terrified that something will rip it away while he’s unawares, and somehow it makes Russia want to smile (though he doesn’t). His hair hasn’t been dried after the shower; he’s likely to catch cold

October 18 Monday, 3:41 p.m.
“Oh my god, I feel human again,” groans Alfred.
Russia makes a polite noise. He watches Alfred pace around the kitchen, stretching his arms up over his head so that a little slip of soft tummy shows. He does this more than once, as though every single time it’s a pleasure. The captive is sleep-tousled, warm and happy-it’s a little alarming. In Russia’s long years of experience, captives show a wide range of emotions, but these things are rare.
There’s no mistaking the sincere cheer in Alfred’s expression as he opens the cupboards, though. He makes a disappointed noise at their empty contents each time, but the brightness in his eyes doesn’t fade. “Don’t you have anything to eat here?”
“I feel like we have had this conversation,” says Russia.
“Oh yeah, you’re a cheap douche who can’t cook. Okay, you should buy some real food-like maybe some Hamburger Helper, that’s awesome stuff. Make sure to buy the hamburger, too. You know, maybe two pounds. I can make some mean Hamburger Helper

October 18 Monday, 6:30 p.m. The hamburger in the supposed “beef stroganoff” is a little overcooked. The noodles, on the other hand, haven’t been left in the pot long enough and are a bit hard. Alfred’s attempt with the instant mashed potatoes is edible. Russia only has two skillets to cook with, so Alfred rewashes them when he runs out of things to cook in, and dinner takes about an hour longer than it should to create. Still, it’s the most hot food Russia’s had on his table in months and he hadn’t lifted a finger in preparing it-all things considered, he wishes his past captives were as ambitious as Alfred

OH HOLY MOTHER OF STAINLESS STEEL BOOM STANDS BATMAN @__@
THIS FILL. I need some better exclamations. This *cries happy tears of joy* I mean, yes I adore your other fills, but this one particularly is so absorbing.
I find myself holding my breath every time you write for this verse. It's just--the way you push the story along, spinning in all these little details about Alfred's fiery spirit and Russia's fascinating thought processes and history. I'm just--this is the most interesting fill on the meme. *sighs happily* I can't predict anything--not the conversation, not the next escape attempt Alfred makes, not their meals of all things, haha...the course of the conversation is so random but SO THEM it's just...guh. I'm so glad you updated :)

omg it's an update,. I'm so happy! I thought this had been abandoned! I'm so excited! Wow, Yao's upping his pay? That can't be good. ...if he wants Alfred more why didn't he ask for him in the first place? I guess we'll find out next time, eh?

You are baaaaaaaack! xDDDDD I'm so happy to see an update to your wonderful fill! Great chapter, I love how you write the interaction between Russia and Alfred.
Yay so thrilled to see this in my email this morning! *dances*
And such an awesome update. The awesome "bonding" between the two. Getting more of a glimpse into Alfred. His constant "I think he'll pay" bits that are just...yeah they make me so sad to hear them... :-(
And that bit at the end...oh gods the mystery of this just keeps me guessing...listen to your gut Rus there is something so very wrong about this.
Gods the more I read of this the more I want to read. <3

Hooray! It's so great to see a story where you've got Russia/America going on where Russia's is not a rape!truck. He really seems like a guy who's trying to be as normal as possible, or as normal as one can be when one is an ex-assassin and Russia. XD I'm really enjoying this so far!
