CRYPTOSERBIAN SPELLCHECK
Russia had recommended shaking him until it stopped but it seemed counterintuitive. Every once in a while, you write a line that makes me literally laugh out loud and then feel very guilty for laughing immediately afterwards. This was one - mostly because I imagined Russia sending his satellites around with small instruction notes glued on their chests like IKEA furniture.
I know he's sort of an ass (hell, we had a recent demonstration here) but I can't help but feel for Serbia sometimes. Also I love how everybody assumes he personally organized the murder or something, because that's just the sort of thing Serbia would do. Even Montenegro, who's sort of his brother/cousin/on-off husbandAnd oh, the things the nations argue on. (France always liked Serbia, IIRC. Even in recent times, there was a lot of fuss some time ago about Cannes giving the Golden Palm to Kusturiza's Underground, which is a beautiful movie, but is also in fact somewhat filoserbian - since it came out very little after the war, people

I...oh my God. Seeing this fill is a dream come true. I've bemoaned the improbability of ever seeing WWI fic based on the beginning of the war for ages now. I never thought I'd see it happen. I'd have tackled it myself if I wasn't too shaky on the prospect of building OCs, but this is excellent and I don't find that too pressing on my to do list anymore now. Thank you so much for writing this.

She fought of Serbia's soldiers as most of hers ran in front of the artillery assault. Damn, she should have seen this coming. As soon as she found Austria again she would retreat too, to find a smarter approach. All Serbia was doing was prolonging the unavoidable. All such calming thoughts disappeared when she found her husband in the outskirts of the battlefield

Prussia laughed until he almost cried when he heard about it. Hungary did her best to look calm but her face heated.
“You both got beaten up by Serbia,” he said as he collected himself. “What are you going to do when the big brother comes for you? Serbia was the minor roadblock you had to pass before we took care of the real threats. And you can't even manage that

“Of course not,” Prussia sneered. “My army is way better, way more disciplined and he's still the backward useless nation he always been. A backward useless nation with lots and lots of people... To throw at us over and over again

Serbia continued to scream in defiance and fight off their army. Not only that, he had the gall to try to chase after her. There was no way he would be able to hold anything but it still disturbed her. Germany and Prussia had problems dealing with Belgium and here she couldn't subdue Serbia and Montenegro nearly as easily as she thought. And Austria who she should have been able to share these concerns with was busy with Germany, only taking a moment off to help her assure Bulgaria's support

Serbia felt good about himself. Or rather, pretended he felt good about the situation. He was proud over the resistance his people had put up against Austria-Hungary but he had vaguely hoped the rest of the Balkans wouldn't be interested in fighting him. They had liked his ideas about Yugoslavia, tired of Hungary's insistence of how her ways of doing things were the best ever and everything would be great if they just shut up and listened. And spoke her language and were properly Magyar
