[Part 15] Ghostly Encounters of the Pirate Kind -- UKUS anonymous January 18 2011, 02:17:59 UTC
Alfred Jones inherits himself a musty old British mansion. He doesn't have a clue what to do with it when he goes to visit. He's even less thrilled to discover his inheritance comes with an added problem in the form of the irritating ghost of a Pirate Captain. Said Pirate isn't any more thrilled to have this American interloper on his property so a battle of wills forms between them.

What happens plot wise is completely up to you. If you want to figure out how to work in ghostly sexual shenanigans that's perfectly fine but it's not necessary. Any other pairings or character additions are fine.

Bonus: The more time Arthur spends with his new housemate the more and more the non-ghost reminds him of a young man he loved (and whose death he caused) while he was still alive.
Bonus 2: Just like that young man has a reincarnated form in the modern world so too does Arthur...

PeacemakerAlfred was brought back from his unconscious state by a cold splash of water to the face. "Wha....ow!" the salt water stung as he opened his eyes. Because of course that's what it was ( ... )

Arthur sighed, "I had been hoping you might be able to help in explaining that. But between observing you these past few months and our encounter just a few moments ago, I find my previous expectations had been far too high." He continued over Alfred's offended sputtering, "I'm not entirely sure what all it is you mean when referencing 'the stuff', but I will explain what I can. I've noticed you seemed perturbed when I was experimenting with all of the strange devices I've found littering my, pardon me, the house since I'd last seen it, so I shall start there." He gave Alfred an annoyed look. "In particular, I recall one instance when I found a program on that box you call a television somewhat interesting and you were especially upset when I insisted on viewing it ( ... )

Arthur blinked as Alfred immediately spewed the tea back out again, the liquid passing through the captain's face to land on the floor behind him. "What the hell!? I know I used regular water to make this!" And the American was up and running to the kitchen tap, turning it on and staring at the water than ran out. "I did! This is fine!" His head spun around to look at Arthur, "What did you do?" His face was displaying what could only be described as an 'Oh come on' expression.

"My apologies." He didn't sound apologetic at all. "It's another of the things I cannot control. Any water source I touch seems to turn to seawater." Arthur looked thoughtful for a moment. "Oh, and by the way, I would also like to offer my regrets over that spill I made in your chambers before. I managed to turn on that contraption in your washroom, but I had a bit of difficulty stopping it again." He looked frustrated with himself at having to admit that.

Alfred continued to stare at him. "So that was you. And you messed up all my showers why? Curiosity?" ( ... )

"So you mean the first thing you remember seeing was me?" Alfred wasn't sure if he should be flattered, worried, or confused.

"Actually no. It was a Frenchman." Arthur's distaste clearly showed. "He was talking into one of those small devices with the numbers on them." Phone, Alfred supplied in his mind. "Saying something along the lines of 'I'll see you in two weeks then, Monsieur Jones.' if I recall." Arthur said 'Monsieur' like it was a bad taste on his tongue.

"Wait." he seemed to realize something. "Jones. That would be you."

"Yeah, I think I remember that conversation you're talking about. It's when Francis--that's the guy's name--and I finalized the deal that landed me this place." Alfred explained.

"When it was decided you would be living here...Then this entire time, it was your presence that summoned me. Well, if my being here was causing you so much difficulty, I daresay you only have yourself to blame for it." Arthur huffed and turned his back to him. His fault or not, this Jones boy didn't understand Arthur's ( ... )

You have me hooked, authornon! o.o I really like the dialogue between them and Arthur's new powers. The sea water thing is a really nice quirk, setting him apart from other classic/boring ghosts and their abilities ;D

The final part with Arthur musing about his awakening really got to me, made me want to smack Alfred a little for not being able to read the atmosphere... Then again, the TV breaking made up for it, haha!! xD

I wonder if ghost!Arthur will be able to burnbake scones? o3o

Keep it up anon! Can't wait to read more~!! ♥

Oh Anon this is just...everything I dreamed for and more. Seriously I love all the twists and turns (Arthur not being a ghost for all that long) and the characterizations and how they interact. Seriously just...yeah...so much love for it all.

This is one of the few stories I'm following on the meme that I actively hope will appear in my inbox. It always makes me squee to see it and it always makes me happy to read it. So thank you. Thank you so much for taking this up. <3

Let Me In

"Well, you've been here this long. I suppose it won't hurt to keep you around a little longer; see if you can be of any use..."Arthur's reverie was broken by the bubbling sound of the coffee maker. Alfred had grabbed a mug and was eying the pot intently, humming some nonsensical little tune under his breath as he did so. He probably thought if he stared hard enough he could will it to fill faster, like in those hero stories he was so fond of talking about ( ... )

But most effective were his disastrous attempts at cooking, if he would ever have admitted it. Thinking logically that if he could manipulate most objects, he should be able to cook a proper meal, Arthur had experimented making some simple dishes to pass the time while Alfred was at work. Of course, with most every liquid he touched turning to saltwater, it ended up being a catastrophe.

Somewhere between telling Arthur he really didn't have any sense of taste and whining that the captain had taken this joke too far, Alfred found himself with a rock-hard (and salty) scone in the face and an angry ghost yelling "It's wasn't a joke you bloody git!" at him before disappearing from the kitchen ( ... )

He didn't move though. Not even when Alfred turned and backed the car right alongside him. The American rolled down his window, questioning why he still bothered trying to talk with the man. Maybe Alfred was holding out for a real answer, even if he knew all he'd get was the same response to the question he always did. "What do you want?" he asked, not even attempting to hide the irritation in his voice anymore ( ... )
