And really, this was a crack prompt when I requested it, and I would have been disappointed otherwise if it were to be written in a "serious manner." (That's a total lie, I would've loved the story anyway, but we're turning anthropomorphic countries into ducks. Clearly there is something in the air.)
But my dumb prompt is being filled ahhhhhhhh I'm so happy I'm laughing hysterically and I can't wait for more keep up the awesome work anon!

Unfortunately for America's Thief-stalking plans, England could tell he was planning something, and not knowing what that something was, England assumed the worst and recruited Germany to both keep an eye on America and keep him out of trouble.
Fortunately for America, Germany was easily distracted.
“Oh my God, is that Veneciano?!” Lacing his voice with just a smidgen of horror and disbelief, America let his eyes widen, looking into the cattails behind Germany.
“Where?” Germany whirled around. With no Veneciano to be seen or heard, in trouble or otherwise, he turned back just in time to catch America sneaking away. “America!”
America froze in place, turning innocent eyes to his upset watcher.
“Do not do that again.”
Sulking, America kicked at the dirt. It had been a great plan, if Germany had just ignored the fact that Veneciano wasn't there, or if he'd thought that maybe Veneciano was just being quiet for once...
