High school senior Alfred Jones is an all american kid, he the school uarterback, on the honor roll, and dating the head cheerleader. However-- his family and friends suspect that Alfred is in fact gay, and send him to a camp to convert its campers to heterosexuality.

There Alfred meets a group of young people trying to "cure" themselves of their homosexuality, one of those people is punk Arthur kirkland.

Er, I can't guess because I've never seen this movie. :( But the concept is *awesome*. I love your Maddie, Alfred is an adorable kook, and Belarus is scary. *shiver*

(Personally I think those gay-healing camps are ridiculous - sending hormonal teenagers with urges to a place full of other hormonal teenagers with similiar urges, in order to cure them of said urges? Yeaaaah, right, that'll work.)

Actually, that's not the most ridiculous part. It's that these camps aren't run by straight people. They're run by "ex-gays" (read: super repressed gay people). So, in the actual camps (sometimes the ones for adults) there's a lot of sitting on men's laps and hugging.

A lot of anti-gay rhetoric starts to make sense if you assume that the very anti-gay people are gay. Or bi. Especially bi. (Like Michelle Bachman's husband). As straight guys don't typically have a lot of repressed homosexual desires.

(Guess who's a chatty queer and into activism!)

(Also, Alfred's super hot and muscular, so well, if you're familiar with the boys' uniforms from the movie then you'll see the problem immediately. If not, I have some sketches)

Alfred scowled as they drove down an old country road. True Directions was really far away. The hills rolled by Alfred’s window. He slumped back in the car seat. His mother leaned back and offered him a cookie. Alfred shook his head. The chocolate chip cookie would just taste like betrayal.

Finally, after like what seemed like a hundred hours they were there. Alfred recoiled in horror when he caught sight of the fence.

Alfred couldn’t pay attention to what Ludwig was saying. The man looked like a Leonardo DiCaprio that had aged well! He loved the movie Titanic. He’d dressed up as Jack Dawson so many times for Halloween (even though Maddie had never agreed to go as Rose-instead she went as Doctor Who and kept trying to turn him into Captain Jack Harness ( ... )
