Any/any - reluctant master/slave first time anonymous December 26 2012, 16:18:01 UTC
Character A is given a slave as a present and social norms dictate that the gift has to be accepted by having sex with him/her. But for whatever reason, A doesn't want this - maybe they're against sex slavery, maybe they know the slave from elsewhere etc. - but there's little choice.

Anon doesn't care if this has a happy ending or not as long as the consent issues and angst aren't entirely swept under the carpet.

I continue to be absolutely in love with this story. The characters' emotions and the conflicts they feel in this difficult situation are so wonderfully written. I love how there's little to no trust between Francis and Rhys yet and how Francis is so scared of what his new responsibilities mean and whether he'll treat Rhys right. And the way you portray Rhys and how he's dealing with the situation is wonderful.

I can't wait to find out what this unspoken secret seems to be. You're doing such a brilliant job with this story, anon! <3

Man... I just found this one. First I need to say that the prompt is really interesting, I can't help but to love these kind of stories... And I love the dynamics there. And thank you very much for filling this, A!A!

I can see Francis isn't exactly perfect here, but I think that's partly the point. Or so I'm guessing. After all, it's not like he asked for this or has any kind of experience dealing with a traumatized person. Especially if the society is as it is in this, I doubt they have courses on how to treat a rape victim.

I do hope he'd at least taken a little bit more time to talk with Rhys before the sex... that was just uncomfortable to read. But then again I dunno if it would have made it any easier.

Francis awoke abruptly at 5:30; he’d trained himself to do this, so it wasn’t a surprise. What was a surprise, however, as the warm body tucked tightly under his arm. What had happened? Did he take a lover to bed right under Arthur’s nose, he wondered with growing horror ( ... )

Francis sat at the long breakfast table, seated unfortunately close to Arthur. The wart was making his slave, an oriental fellow by the name of Hong, wipe his mouth and fetch silverware he dropped on the floor. In other words, he was being a pig ( ... )

Rhys looked as though he felt trapped between a rock and a hard place, as he looked around anxiously and shook his head. “No, thank you, si- Francis, I’m all right where I am.” He stood next to Francis, as if ready to snap away on the next order ( ... )

Loving this fill more and more, authoranon! It's rare to see England being the 'bad guy' and France the good one, and the angst is delicious. Can't wait for more.

Ouch, the unconscious cuddling... I just feel bad for them both. But the flower crown scene is kind of adorable. <3

It bothers me a bit how completely evil Arthur is here, even though I know it's just required by the story. It's not that it's bad in terms of the fic universe, it's just that I like England and I don't like seeing him as the villain. x); (Even though he's a bit of a bastard in canon too. But then again, so is France.) Well, it is nice that it's not France that's made the evil perv, though.

It occurred to me, though, that this society probably approves of rape within marriage... I have a feeling Arthur is going to make it nasty for Francis once they're married. Even if Francis was okay with having sex with a guy he doesn't like... (Am I a horrible person for kind of wanting to see that now? =3= It would be interesting to see how that might affect Rhys and Francis' relationship (whatever the relationship is by that point.))

I love the constant little details about how life is for slaves -- like the mention that some of them (implied) end up with PTSD, and the little bit about Rhys not sitting.

Francis shouldn’t have been surprised; this was all business to Arthur. In a homosexual union, if it were of a high enough class, there would generally be a mistress to carry on the family line. Her background didn’t matter quite so much as the spouse’s, and they tended to be anywhere from slave to middle class; never upper class, however. It would be absolutely shameful to even suggest such a thing. High-born girls were meant for marriage or spinsterhood alone ( ... )

Barking out a laugh, Arthur said, “I see you don’t have control over him yet; I suppose I never did break him in properly.” His face clearly said, ‘I don’t talk to slaves ( ... )

I really like how something that was supposed to be a simple oneshot is growing into a real story with intrigues and good plot. Always looking forward to the updates of this, A!A.

Sadly, the theory that "Slaveowners couldn't possibly be interested in lowly scum like slaves!" was very real. As was the belief that slaves tried to get slave owner sexual attention for favors.

All the stuff relating to the slavery breaks my heart... and sadly, just like the anon above said, it's all too accurate. Everything Arthur says makes my skin crawl. But then again, that's how it's supposed to be ( ... )

OP is back and having a total blast! I totally agree with all the other anons on how awesome it is that you're writing such a long and elaborate story. This could have so easily been just a smutty one-shot (and I would have been perfectly fine with that), but you're exploring some trully fascinating ideas here, and the accuracy and hopelessness the characters must be feeling are just heart-breaking.
