It's been a couple of days since the Welcoming Ceremony but Matthew still hasn't found the opportunity to formally say 'hi' to Francis yet. Wait, actually, he did say hi. Many times. But every single time he was ignored. Or, more likely, he wasn't even heard. As usual. At this point, he has already given up. Or at least, he was pretty close to giving up.

Matthew had already finished all the school work he had been given. He had nothing better to do, of course, so when he finished, he decided to take a nap to pass the time. It was evening by the time he woke up and Francis was typing away at his laptop. Oh, he must be working .. He thought, as he groggily rubbed his eyes and sat up on his bed. It was awfully dark in the room. Even the blinds were shut. Matthew wondered how the hell his roommate was even working in such darkness. It definitely wasn't good for his eyes ( ... )

Francis thought he heard something after the lights were turned on, but he wasn't sure. Then they went off again. Weird. He set his laptop beside him on the bed and turned his lamp on. The light from there was softer and didn't hurt his eyes so much.

He looked around, then focused his eyes on the space by the light switch. The longer he stared at that particular spot, the weirder his vision got. It almost looked as if some transparent person was standing by the light switch. The longer he stared, the more solidity the figure got. Even weirder, was that the person actually looked familiar.

Wait. That made no sense. "Mathieu?"

Matthew beamed. "Y-yes!" He exclaimed, pleased. Thank goodness Francis finally realized his existence. It only took--well, a couple of days but that didn't matter much anymore. Matthew was starting to think that he might have to go the entire year unheard. That, of course, would have been really pitiful and he definitely didn't want to go through that. Again. Once was enough. Hell, never would have been preferable, but it wasn't Matthew's fault he was so damn transparent.

"I-I'm glad you finally noticed me ..." He mumbled, laughing lightly. After all, Matthew almost considered running around the room naked singing native American song (okay, the thought just breezed through his mind, he wasn't seriously going considering it). Because obviously, if THAT didn't work, Matthew knew nothing would and then he'd really have nothing but himself to blame for it. Or he could blame whatever greater power caused him to lack so much presence.

Finally? Had Mathieu been here for a while or something? Oh...wait. Mathieu was his roommate, wasn't he? That would explain everything...the lights, the levitating hairbrush, the disappearing objects...the fact that the other side of the room looked different since the beginning of the semester all on its own...

Ever the nice guy, Francis didn't want to say he hadn't noticed Mathieu until now. That was dicky, especially since he'd known Mathieu for how long? "Sorry for my lack of conversation, mon cher. I've been so engrossed in homework...how did your summer go?"
