... Well.

It seems that the system for the City does not respect hackers very much.

Anyone ever have a laptop almost explode?

Sounds like you need an upgrade.

It was the City retaliating against my hacking attempt, I think.

What did you try to hack?

The City's mainframe.

Only when the City is involved.

I'm not giving up just yet. I'll wait awhile, then take another crack at it.

The lady with the dark hair is a giant spider.

Just saying.

So long as she doesn't try to eat me for dinner, we're fine.

Are you a wi~itch?

Got it in one.

And is that a fact? I'll ask around.

Does the blue screen of death count?

Oooh. No, but that's always annoying.

It always seems to happen when you're doing something important too.

I know. It's like the system takes the most inappropriate time and decides to play around with you.

The City's gods giveth, and by the same token, taketh away.

I suppose they are a capricious bunch, really. And yet, one has to wonder.. if all the citizens are, as it seems, addicted to the network, perhaps the 'curses' we so frequently suffer are spread, not by magick or by some airborne means, but rather as a sort of computer virus? A speculation I had some time past..

I believe the "addiction" feeds into the need for communication, as the ticking only goes away when you're with someone. I'm living with Giles now, so I have that market covered, I think.

As for the curse, you're probably not that far off.
