characters. castiel and dean winchester verse. so happy i could die summary. after a daring rescue, the archangel is...less than amused. timeline. after dean runs himself off the road ( way to go dummy ).
The last thing Dean could remember was his vision clouding over from the blood loss he was experiencing. The Tulpa had all but snapped his shoulder in two. He didn't think to hit the breaks and he was already reeling into unconsciousness as he plummeted and rolled down the hill.
"...Cas?" It was the first thing to leave his lips, hearing the same comforting voice. Dammit. He'd broken Lisa's heart, quite possibly ruined Ben's life, he didn't deserve to live. He didn't voice that though. "Oh... y'know... million bucks."
Dean's tone was sarcastic. He ran a hand through his hair and sat all the way up, the covers slid down his chest, he looked around the house. "Mind if I ask where we are?"
"Of course," the tone in his voice was borderline confident when Dean said his name with the attempt to make sure he wasn't speaking to a figment of his imagination he was sure of it. His brow arching curiously when he said that before he stood to his feet and glanced around for a brief moment at the house. He didn't...really care for who Dean had affected. Positively or negatively. Lisa and Ben would survive and grow stronger from the experience. Dean was the one to worry about. "In a house. Just outside of Springfield, Illnois." He figured it'd be better than being anywhere near Lisa or Ben.
The hunter glanced down to the leg of his jeans that were all but ripped open, he must've taken an automobile shaped bullet there. Afterward he glanced to the holes in the sides of his shirt and torso.
He decided not to say anything about it. Cas had saved his ass more than once. It might have just been routine.
"Illinois," he repeated. He took in a breath. "Yeah, okay."
He still felt low. Retribution from death didn't change that.
Well, he had taken an automobile shaped something. Castiel didn't bother hiding the worried look in his face as he looked on at his friend. There was a lot that he thought was possible for the hunter. He remained hopeful that...not circling down the preverbial drain was one of them. He studied his friend before moving to lean against the wall. He wasn't...like the others. He was discovering that quickly now. The archangel returned to Heaven with a new understanding of the world. Of humanity. He was beginning to believe it gave him a better understanding of how to deal with things. Even if he was starting to tend to be a maverick among his brothers; they didn't understand things like he seemed too.
He had Dean to thank for that. Even at the time he didn't think it mattered all that much. Or liked it for that matter. "You didn't want to be saved, did you? I couldn't...just allow you to die, Dean."
