More Hard to Open Soft Drink Time Again

Sep 24, 2005 14:01

I talked to my brother about soda (pop) cans again. Apparently when I went with him to Bethesda, Maryland, he bought a Mountain Dew can that was designed more like the Coca-Cola cans in Michigan. It was easy to open. So I guess it all depends on the individual bottling companies in the area in which you live.

By the way, Andrew and I are changing focus. All future updates will be about soft drinks.

What is your opinion of Diet Vernor's? Diet Coke? Diet anything. I am the type of fat guy who likes to cram his moth full of sweets, then gulp a Diet Coke. Is that the height of decadence or what?

Diet soft drinks are good for the first one and a half sips, then the artificial sweetener becomes overpowering. But I understand that people who get used to drinking them find non-diet beverages too sweet when they try to go back.

Do you find that drinking Diet Coke after binging on sweets makes you feel as if you are canceling out a mistake?

Dear Jan,
I have a friend who puts milk in his Vernors.
what are you thoughts on this?
would you try it? have you tried it?

I have heard of it and don't know quite what to think. I would try it (and probably will), but haven't yet. Don't some people drink it warm?

I guess it's not entirely strange if you think about vanilla ice cream (another dairy product) in root beer (another soda) and how popular that is.

These are the kind of things that are constantly floating around in my head. If you want to call them "genius" then I thank you for the compliment.

I refuse to call it "pop"
I've had a bad experience as a young child with people calling soda "pop".
Maybe I can try this soda pop thing you speak of.

"Pop" is one of those words that I've always just hated. It sounds stupid to me for some reason. But I know some people can't stand the word "soda". "Soda pop" just sounds funny - even though it's probably more proper. I think I like it.

I would be interested to know what bad childhood experience you could have had concerning a reference to soft drinks.

Other one syllable words I don't like are those most often used by people in rock bands. "Gig" and "Jam" (when not referring to a delicious fruit spread) I don't think I like the word "rock" as used to describe that kind of music either, but there are certain things you can't avoid easily.

Alright, horrid childhood experience:
My ninth birthday party, I had some girls over that were in my class. I had only been in america for a very short time, and had never heard anyone use "pop" in reference to needing a soda. So they all were like "Hey, do you have any pop?". Me being confused asked them what they ment. They all started mocking me and saying really not nice things. So of course being a scared, confused, hurt little girl started crying. Then they mocked me more, because to THEM pop was such a well known term.
Long live Soda (pop)
