Title: Wisps Author/pseudonym: NemKess Fandom: Saiyuki Pairing: Hakkai/Goku (only mildly) Theme: #6 the space between dream and reality Rating: G Notes: It's horrible... >_> Sorry.
This was so bittersweet and wonderful. I love mood pieces. It is intriguing to see Goku brood, because it really isn't part of his nature. It just creeps up on him every once in a while when he catches a glimpse of a shadow of the past.
I think I have a habit of making him brood more in fics than is probably appropriate just because I get frustrated with the sheer number of fics out there that completely infatize (is that even a word? ^_^;;) him. It's like everyone's afraid of admitting he has depth beyond his bottomless pit of a stomach.
Sometimes they just don't go the way you expect - but the flow was completely natural. It's better to just let them go than to force it. I'm sure you'll get the one you want in a future attempt!
Wow...I definitely have to agree with wood_rabbit; this little piece was just right in its mood and tone, and I don't see anything wrong with it. ^_^ HakkaixGoku is probably one of my favorite secondary pairings--one that I may even admit to liking more than the fan-favorite SanzouxGoku--and I've seen writers who can really pull off the pairing without any problems. I'm starting to get the feeling you're one of those people.
I also agree with your earlier comment about Goku being portrayed as a dense, unnaturally infantile character...there are fans who feel the same way as you. When a moment like this comes around where we get to see Goku's more contemplative side--well, while I may be biased, I enjoy those moments the most. ^^ Bravo, NemKess, for a job well done. At the very least, I'm going to be watching this community for more insightful fics like this. Either that, or join this community right away.

I think the main reason I don't like it is that it didn't turn out the way it was supposed to.
It was supposed to be more h/c interaction between Hakkai and Goku and the silly monkey just wouldn't budge on his angst.
I am glad you liked it though. Thanks!
