I "studied" (aka read and then just talked about it for one entire 3-hour class) that novel in one of my fiction classes... it's an interesting novel. It actually gets crazy if you actually read it the way it's apparently supposed to be read - as a 3-D, non-linear text. I suppose if you start with one passage and follow its footnotes all over the place to all the other pages and references, you'll get such a different, intense experience than if you just read the poem and then the notes in a straightforward manner. Wow, there are so many awesome things my professor pointed out about that book that I would have NEVER noticed; I have them all scribbled in an old fiction notebook somewhere. I promise you I will start a hunt for them; it's definitely worth the search!

I hope all is well for you in West Coastland; Pittsburgh is dreary and getting colder, though I love this sweaters-and-scarves air.

Take care! I'll be on the lookout for the Nabakov tricks and secrets, haha.
