Ginger and Figs

With a strong background in anatomy, physiology, biology, etc it's rare that I am ever disturbed by anything that happens to the body. On the contrary I usually find it interesting. So I don't know what bothers me more. The fact that it's common enough to have a term, or that the article I read described several 'best practices' for preparing the ginger and discussed the usage of fresh vs special aging methods.
