London: Weeks 2 and 3

I've now officially been in London for three weeks, so it was about time for another update on how I am finding it all.

As an aside: I'm frequently struck by the desire to blog. Whether it's to document a specific event or experience, or to express and explore some thoughts or observations that have struck me. Sometimes I want to blog to share the ( Read more... )

Glad you're enjoying yourself!

Idea: maybe do a Private, dear-diary, what-I-did-today post every night for your personal record. When that adds up to enough to fill a public post, you only have to cut+paste, plus a little explanation.

I've tried that - except I always want to write big masterpieces, rather than short little diary entries. I have so many Blogs-in-Progress that may never make it because they require me to be in the right mind frame to wax long and lyrical.

So maybe the trick is for me not to try to say too much? :)

Exactly. A bunch of dot points of *Saw this. *I love that. *Achieved this. Even if you make the short diary entries public we'll get an idea of what you're up to (and understand that you're busy!) The masterpiece can be the weekly/fortnightly one that expands on these points.

Yup. I do the same thing with wanting to write a Proper! Long! account of everything, which is why it took me months to blog my 4 week UK trip and why I still haven't written about the US trip... I should have just written an outline of what we did ASAP, then it would be there for me to fill out later, and other people would have more of an idea what I spent the time on!

Yup - I think in another month I might be feeling pretty adrift if it wasn't for having family here. And Will - Will's like family! :)
