There were earthquakes in the Midwest today -- one at 4:30 in the morning which I'm not sure I felt, and then one at around 11:15, which I definitely felt (but chalked it up to people moving stuff or something like that instead).

This is only the second time I know of that there's been an earthquake in the Midwest in the 25 years I've lived here.

The only previous one I remember is probably the same one you remember. There was one when we lived in the Detroit suburbs, and based on the house we lived in I had to be somewhere between 6 and 10. Mom felt it but first thought I was jumping up and down in the living room, and a vase or something slid off a shelf.

Yeah, that sounds about right -- it would have been in the late 1980's.

(Actually after that I googled around and it looks like it was in June 1987.)

Yeah, I was going to say, it must have been summer because Dad was at work but I wasn't at school.

So, in that case I guess I was five going on six.

Yep, I remember that one. I was playing Carmen Sandiego on my Dad's Apple ][e, and all of a sudden the tall standing lamp between me and him started shaking around. One of the few things I remember clearly from that age.

Slept through the one this morning - a couple people here said their glassware was rattling around at 11:15, but I don't remember what I was doing. Didn't notice, that's for sure.

I wasn't going to be able to feel anything at 11:15 other than stress.
Kind of wish I had, though. Would have taken my mind off of the crazy for a little bit.
