the book of love is long and boring; no one can lift the damn thing

LIVEJOURNAL, YOU USED TO BE MY PLAYGROUND BE THE BEST THING EVER. And now... Now, you're only mildly interesting. What happened? Where did our love go? I thought I had given up and moved on, but I just can't. Was it me, LJ? Was it something I said, did, etc ( Read more... )

It's really sad when you long for the past in an internet-specific sort of way.

I do that. Also, much love to the Peter Gabriel.

If only we could time travel our internet lives back...

Oooh, I didn't know he had done a version 'til you said that. I shall have to listen when my internet doesn't suck so hard. The Magnetic Fields one is the track I'm familiar with; according to Wikipedia, Pete's version is the cover, but, well, it's Wikipedia. XD

I've only ever heard the Gabriel's version. I'll have to listen to MF's when I get home. :D

The Magnetic Fields - The Book of Love

(Not sure why I linked you to Last.fm in the last comment; it didn't have a sample!)

Your subject heading has filled me with music nostalgia *snuggles up next to song*

Livejournal is a fickle mistress, to be sure. As for Twitter, I'm a little scared it of; it looks like one of those things I'll either abuse horribly or neglect completely XD oh internets.

Now I'm curious: Peter Gabriel or Magnetic Fields? 8D

Twitter has EATEN MY SOUL in the best way possible. I was afraid I'd neglect it, but it's so gosh darned easy to update, and even if you're gone for a week, 140 chars per post isn't too much to catch up on.

...well, that's what I used to say, before I ended up with a bunch of friends who tweet as much as I do (which is WAY TOO MUCH).

In unrelated news, I miss dA but I am also scared of the zillion unread comments I have accumulated...

I'd have to say Peter Gabriel, as that's the only version I'd heard until now. But I just went and sought out the Magnetic Fields version, and it's quite nice as well :3

So it isn't just me. And there I go, always assuming I'm the prob--wait, no, I never do that.

So it isn't just me.

Do other people know about this? Because I really like their logo and I am in a sort of mood for the first time in ever that I would actually set up a proper account there, probably.

I don't think it is terribly widely known about, no. But a lot of people do know--one of the primary site designers is pretty active in fandom (she's the author of one of the most popular SGA fics ever), so people have heard about it on her lj. I was thinking of making a post in the next couple of days about what I plan to do, which is buy an account immediately when open beta begins on April 30, and mirror my posts onto my LJ until I don't feel like it anymore. DW has been designed for easy transfer--one button installation of your LJ including comments, and simple cross-posting where comments are sent to your DW account. Basically I've been really mad at LJ ever since the HP slashthrough scandal years ago, but neither IJ or Vox or anything else was a very good replacement. From all accounts, DW is not just a replacement but an IMPROVEMENT.

Wow, that sounds pretty fantastic. I'm definitely signing up on the 30th; if I have cash, I will very likely do the same (however, the having cash part is not likely at ALL, argh).

I will likewise spread the word far and wide. Wheeee.

LJ has been getting quieter and quieter. I wondered what was going on myself. I've been posting less fic, but a lot of people are doing that, too.

I'm resisting the Twitter thing. That is all.

Twitter ated my brain, but I suspect it's one of those love/hate things.

And. I thought it was just my apathy in regards to most of my hardcore fandoms, but it seems a lot of people are failing to feel the LJ love.

Fandom in general seems to be getting a little quiet. I think things go in cycles though. Hopefully, it'll pick back up soon. I needs some good Saiyuki/Bleach/whatever porn.

So it's pretty much all across the board?

I think I burnt myself out on all things anime/manga for a while due to Japanese class and am just now getting peckish for it again. I have missed it, omg.
