I love Wimbledon, and so was very excited when Mum told me last week that I could have her ticket for yesterday. (Dad's in some rotating ballot thing at work, so they get tickets every year - first day one year, finals day the next etc.) Something, of course, had to go wrong...

Dad is currently marking Cambridge exam papers, tripos and graduate, and he let me read some of them. Obviously I'm no judge but, horrendous handwriting aside, some were good but some really really irritated me. So, the LPC is done. Done done done done done. Well, that's assuming that I don't have to retake the Exam of Death (otherwise known as Commercial Dispute Resolution) in August. No point worrying about that now though, because now it's time for...

Whoever invented the concept of "the corner shop" is a bloody genius. I don't know how I'll cope if I ever have to go further than two minutes down the road to get hangover supplies.

So, after all the waiting, wondering and phoning and getting no answer, I find that I have not been accepted onto the LLM course in Cambridge. It seems it took them 6 months to put “cancelled” on my online application-checking-thingy. No letter, no email (as promised), just “cancelled”. That’s a bit lame, really ( Read more... )

In exactly a week's time, I intend to be in bed with the mother of all hangovers, lying there thinking "I can stay in bed all day and it doesn't matter!!" Yes the exams, and indeed the entire LPC, will be over. At that point I will, supposedly, be suitably qualified to go and work in a law firm and be let loose on clients. Oh dear ( Read more... )
