I'm going to watch a scary movie tomorrow with Sonya, the cute Chinese teacher that I really like but haven't gotten to hang out with. She told me that I'll have to lend her my hand so I think we'll both be freaked out... But the reviews for ouija are really good! So, in the spirit of the season, here I go :o

you got the sound right, the turnip portion is correct. the correct last character is 糕, which is cake or pastry; 高 is tall, or high.

sounds like a great plan! you can post pictures of turnip cake and walk walk cafe in your future entries. good luck!
