I purchased a hard-sided train case from etsy vintage recently. It arrived today and unfortunately it has a smokey/old smell to it. Which is sort of expected being that it is a vintage item. At first I thought it was just musty, but in walking by it a few times, I can definitely smell an underlining cigarette smell.

As other posters have mentioned, Vinegar, Vodka and Baking Soda.. :)

Yes, vinegar. Also, pop a dryer sheet in there. For some reason, it does absorb musty/smoky smells. Sunlight also works wonders.
