Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with the following? The portable A/C I just bought doubles as a dehumidifier. I need to run a hose from the dehumidifier water bucket to some place where it can drain. I know drains are supposed to go 'downhill,' but my options are kind of limited here. I can't lift this 200 pound unit up into the ( Read more... )

Would you be able to run a hose down to the ground on the outside of the window? Or is this even a window unit?

Nah, it's a portable AC unit--not a window unit. I ended up just buying some flexible pipe and one of those big Home Depot orange buckets. Problem solved. lol

I'm confused. Did it come with a bucket or hose or is the water just supposed to fall out the back? Can you post a picture? I can't imagine it didn't come with either a bucket or hose, but I'm having a hard time imagining how you'd fit either in the 1/2" between the drain and the bottom.

Nah, it didn't come with a hose or anything. I ended up just buying one of those big orange Home Depot buckets and some flexible pipe, which seems to be working.

You need to raise your dehumidifier/ac unit so its drain hole is higher than the edge of your bathtub. Can you place your unit up on a sturdy stand, table, or blocks to raise it's level?

Meeeeehhhh, I have the unit in my living room. I do have a pretty solid NASCAR scuff tyre I could put a thick piece of wood on and put the unit on top of that. I ended up buying a big orange bucket from Home Depot and getting some clear flexible pipe, and that seems to be working for now. I still need to raise the unit, though.

how does the AC unit connect with the outside world? Window - is it one of those you can roll around? Mine sits in the window - water drips away - I guess? Never had to deal with what you are talking about. More description of the unit - pic or link would allow us to help you. What does the manual say?

The manual says to hook a hose up to it, but it didn't come with a hose. It's one of those portable units you wheel around from room to room. I bought one of those 5 gallon bucket things from Home Depot along with some flexible piping, and attached the pipe to it. It's not an airtight seal, so like drops of water are still coming out of it, but meh.
