Jul 09, 2014 23:08

**Apparently, I'm not supposed to ask this here. Sorry, it's been years since I read the rules for this community. Now I have a second question-Why is there a gifts tag if I'm not allowed to ask questions about them ( Read more... )

I would recommend scouring etsy for something neat and unique.

Also from the rules:
*NO GIFT-GIVING ADVICE QUESTIONS*

Oh okay. Sorry, I was going by the tags. Wonder why they have a tag for it if I can't ask questions about it?? That's dumb. :P

Looks like the rule was set up 7 years ago, likely at a time when the community was more active and saw more regular requests.

"Original rule: Seriously, you KNOW the person you are giving the gift to, what makes you think perfect strangers will know the taste of your loved one better than you?"

Well.....I know her mom. And I babysat her. But all I know about her is listed above. Plus, WTH does a 13 year old want these days anyway? I didn't even have internet then-I just wanted to steal my mom's beer and my dad's cigarettes, lmao

I think $30 in a card would thrill a 12-13 to the moon. Toss in a candy if you want to. Then she can buy her own jewelry thingy or at least get a discount.

That's kinda where I was going with it. Do you know if any online body jewelry stores have gift cards, or would I be better to go with Visa or Hot Topic (we have one in the next town over)?

Claire's boutique? Plus they got all sorts of stuff in that place (higher and lower end) in case she doesn't get a piercing for some reason. Guess where I got some of my piercing done when I was younger. lol

We may have one of those-I honestly don't remember! Haha! We have a mall though and you can usually find Claires stores there :)

Thanks!

SockDreams.com has a ton of red and black striped (or otherwise gothy looking) socks/stockings/armwarmers/legwarmers...

Maybe try a gift card for thinkgeek.com. She could pick out something really fun there.

I personally wouldn't give gifts around the piercing if you are unsure of mom's thoughts on that. I was 18 when I got my navel done and that son of a b took 9 freaking months to heal. I would advise she wait on that. I think the nose heals MUCH faster.

For a geeky girl who loves writing etc, I think you really can't go past a really cool notebook/journal. OLDSKOOL. Not too costly, inoffensive to parents etc yet cool.

I think notebooks are great for some people, but unless you know for sure she writes in then I would go with something else. When I was younger exceeded family got me many really nice notebooks because they knew I enjoyed writing. However, I never wrote by hand (and am left handed so only certain types of spines work for me) so most of them got donated.

Also, unless your gift infraction was pointed out by a mod, try to not let it get to you too much.
