You can buy wreath hangers that go over the top of the door.

Places like Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, Walmart, Rite Aid.. should have them. I have a bunch in silver, gold and even clear plastic.

There are longer ones specifically for wreathes in seasonal colors. I got mine at the Dollar Tree (for $1).

My grandma used to have some like that, but she used it as a table centerpiece with a giant candle in the center

Put a command hook upside down inside the door. Hang the wreath from a long ribbon that goes over the door and hooks under the upside down hook. The door takes most of the weight, so it can hold more.
