No sewing, but piano. In which you might learn way more about an antique piano than you wanted to

So yesterday I got some white twill tape after work to put on my voile petticoat. I PLANNED to go right home and sew it on, but then went to the local thrift store to get baby clothes for my newest nephew, and then went to my parents' house to drop those off, and realized as I was headed there that, Hey! The piano was delivered on Saturday!

That is simply marvelous! I LOVE pianos. That is one special piece. I would have cried, too. I'm so glad it's restored and sounds as beautiful as ever.

It's a good thing pianos are so big and my house won't fit them. I have a roughly 100 year-old cabinet piano (someone refinished over the maker's name!), so I want a baby grand and a forte piano. (For starters.) My parents have a baby grand made by Lindeman & Sons. It has a tiny scar on the side where it was hit by a car... one of the previous owners had it in the front window of her house. A car mounted the curb and crashed into the house, through the window, and into the piano. Thankfully it was not a rug, so it rolled away on the casters!

Wow, that's certainly a story! A narrow escape by one lucky piano... I assume your parents' baby grand is coming to you eventually, so you had best find a house with room! That's what I'm going to have to do, lol.

Yay piano! So pretty...I'm so glad it wasn't a loss. Love that it's got a neat little history, too. I wanna hear it! (Like I know anything about pianos, ha ha ha. But I appreciate when people play them!)

Sometime when we have my parents captive I'll have them tell you the whole story... there are tales of patent-hunting and all sorts of things.

It's wonderful that they were able to resurrect it. It's definitely worth not finishing a petticoat for that!

That's what I thought! Petticoats can be done in the dead of night, after all...piano-playing not so much. Since I'm going to inherit it I'm extra glad it got saved, hehe.
