I was really liking the iPhone, even despite the $600 price, until I read this. Yeah, I'm definitely going to pay $600 for a smartphone I can't put applications on. What are they thinking?

No they are doing exactly what they have always done, and what has made them unpopular with anyone who has a half a brain. Making a proprietary machine that does exactly and ONLY exactly what they want it to do.

Furthermore they are going to be showered with praise for being innovators by the iCult.
