Today's sporking victim is another movie that suffers from the "what is this girl, blind?" syndrome - Jerry Zucker's First Knight. As always, bring your own spork and join in, there's definitely enough for everyone in this movie ;)

( I'm too sexy for my armour. )As the clear winner of our poll, the next sporking victim will be James Cameron's ( Read more... )

You made me feel like re-reading Mists of Avalon for the sake of seeing how I'm no longer easy to squick ;>

Ah yes, fandom does wonders for the loss of the squick factor, doesn't it?

Brilliant sporking once again! I enjoyed this a lot, especially the Arthurian City States, and the fashion remarks (I remember that the clothing was among the things that shocked me most when I watched that movie).

Look how they're twirling those swords! Do they have any idea how heavy these things are?

Actually, not quite as heavy as one tends to presume, and if you think of the Parzival vs. Feirefiz duel in Wolfram's of Eschenbach "Parzival", even medieval authors were not above showing sword-twirling, sword-throwing heroes. ;)

I agree on the swords; a well balanced sword is less heavy than many people think.

And were parchement scrolls out of date? The Romans had them, and the historical Arthur, if he existed at all, dates most likely in the late 5th or early 6th century AD where the still were traces of Roman culture.

But lovely fun snork. Just read the Winnetou one as well. *grins at memories of magically multiplying tramps during the attack at Butler's farm*

still were traces of Roman culture

Including roads. Although I imagine they weren't in very good nick.

Yes, there were a few Roman roads, not even in bad condition - but this movie gives the impression that there's a highway connection between every two villages of your choice ;)

My family actually saw this in England... where my mom was doing research for her medieval books. Needless to say, we got quite the lecture on how bad this movie was afterwards, LOL.

Malagant: I am the law now!

I didn't know Sylvester Stallone was in this!
