Oh man. Just having gone through labor and delivery has me so excited for you! I showed my little one Muchy P. She could not believe the little guy was already sucking on his thumb!
You can have your baby vaginally unless something odd comes up. Think positive. Having a doula is a great idea, she can be a huge advocate for you. You are smart not to automatically discount drugs, nor insist on them. Play it by ear and make sure your labor staff knows what your preference is. They will help you stick to your game plan.
LoL, I was thinking the other day, I should talk to saberivojo about getting some tips for how not to piss off the OB nurses and/or be that "difficult" patient while still making my wants/needs known :-)
I think you're absolutely right about the birth--go in with an ideal plan, let everyone know what it is, and be willing to change if the circumstances do (or if I just can't take the pain).
My nephew had a similar reaction to Munchy P sucking his thumb. He's 13 and has never seen an ultrasound image before, so his first reaction was something along the lines of, "It's not going to look like an alien when it's born, is it??"
Isn't he cute/weird?!? (I use "weird" with love, I promise!)
Also? Scout does not understand why she is no longer allowed to use my stomach as her own personal kneading pad. And Minou is very tired of my nudging her out of the way to get up and use the bathroom at least once a night. This is not the natural order of things!
I wouldn't expect you to use weird (in this context) in any other way :)
Aw, poor Scout. That would be very confusing and difficult! And Minou being disturbed. Put upon kitties! And soon they'll have a loud, smelly thing taking your attention and making things worse.
