Unfortunately, when the surgeon had gotten in to work on my dad, he found carcinomatosis, which basically means that the cancer has spread to his abdominal cavity.  The primary tumor was not removed, as it was deemed more risky to do so than not, given the extent of the spread of the cancer.  We have yet to talk with the Oncologist, but with a bit ( Read more... )

Last fall, my father was diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer.  The scans did not show any sign of the tumor having metastasized, but at that point it was too large to be operable.  He went on chemo and radiation for a couple of months to reduce the size of the tumor, and this would appear to have been successful, as he's going in for the operation to ( Read more... )

After repeatedly being asked "do you have an LJ", I have finally gotten around to going ahead and getting one.  It seems appropriate that my first post would mention this fact.

So, to all of you who've asked, thanks for the prod.  Time will tell whether I make much use of it, but at least I have a fairly easily maintainable "friends" list, now!
